Nobody talking about PHBII or other supplements?

Pants,

You have a point in that little rant of yours? ;)
I think my point is quite apparent.

I'd like to point out that there's a Vow of Poverty thread on the first page of General right now. How's that for staying power? In comparison, I think PHB2 has kind of petered out.

EDIT: I hadn't looked at the VoP thread until now--it kind of doesn't count since it doesn't discuss the feat.
There was a PHBII thread on the front page just a day or so ago.

I'm enjoying the PHBII. I'm finding a lot to use it in, not nearly as much as if it was a true second half of the PHB. But it's full of good stuff.

For that matter, I haven't bought Mysteries of the Moonsea, but it was the 3e FR accessory that I was most impressed with. If the past 3e accessories were of similar format I probably would have bought them. The new format is very nice for many reasons, but for me one reason stands out.

I believe it is presented with much more emphasis on it being a game setting than as gazetteer for a shared novel setting. I like it. If future FR accessories follow this same format I'll probably find myself drifting back to FR again and buying those game line of accessories.

I looked at Mysteries of the Moonsea in the store. Not interested. I thought it lacked depth, and was not nearly interesting enough to be compared to En Route or any other similar product that came out from other publishers a few years ago.

PHBII is a great book. Lots of interesting rules additions.

FCI had only 1 problem - it was about 1/2 as long as I would have liked it to be.

PHB2 is great and FCI is very cool so far. As for Mysteries of the Moonsea, I don't know nor do I really care, to be blunt.

Hi,

I liked PHBII -- the new classes are cool and there's quite a lot of good stuff in there, including probably the best selection of feats in a supplement for a while. Power of Faerun was a bit disappointing, but had a few interesting bits of lore and some good chapters on the various different approaches to running a high level campaign. I've only read the first chapter of Fiendish Codex 1 and flicked through the rest of it but I am enjoying it so far, and loved the Lost Annals write-ups on the website which I actually read before the book. I also purchased Mysteries of the Moonsea, but haven't read it at all yet, so can't comment.

Cheers

Richard

One thing that I would like to mention about PHB II - it is not ground shaking. And in many ways that is a good thing, much of the material, from character rebuilding to affiliations, can quietly be absorbed into a game rather than having the campaign rebuilt around it. This is also part of why Heroes of Battle sees more use in my games than, say, Heroes of Horror. So lack of comment in this case may just mean that the book is just quietly getting used rather than argued about. :p

I get more mileage out of DMG II, but then I am almost always the DM, and almost never a player.

And now back to our reularly scheduled thread.

The only one I've not seen is Mysteries of the Moonsea and that's because, yes it did suck. :p :)

Come on Nightfall, why all the hate? :p

Seriously, I knew when I was working on this one that it wouldn't be for everyone. WotC said they want to experiment with a new type of book, so write up four major cities and then create a bunch of adventures revolving around them in two thousand words or less each. If you're used to the traditional regional sourcebook format, this book isn't going to work for you. If you're used to long, detailed adventures, this book is also not going to work for you.

In my mind, I equate it with the 1st edition book Ruins of Adventure (aka Pools of Radiance). I think that, had it been marketed along those lines, it might be getting better reception, but as it stands, it seems to be a love it or hate it kind of book with most fans.

Darrin,

If it had been longer MAYBE I would have liked it. I'm sorry to rain on your parade Darrin. I'm sure you worked very hard on it. But honestly I felt if they had given you guys 100 more pages, maybe then I'd be interested.

Honestly I wanted more info about the Moonsea, and the various locales, than just a brief summary. More would have been better, is all I'm saying.

Pants,

The part that seems to think just because I'm predictable, that makes me annoying.
