NorCal Game Day II. January 31st 2004 at Gamer's Keepe in Vacaville?

Hey! What am I, chopped liver?

;)

Haha.. uh.. oops... Obviously in my distress, I overlooked a few things. You and reapersaurus (or is it Jack now?) totally represent for ENWorld in these here parts! I think it's the rumor of the Beer Girls at the Dallas Game Day that has me jealous, or something. If I ever win the lotto, we are gonna have THE BEST Game Days around here in the history of game days.

I even understand Bay Area people not wanting to make the drive up here, but I know there's a ton of Sactown peeps all up in here. Or, yeah. I promise to bathe and wear my "Sanitized for ENWorld" deodorant on Game Day!

Anyways, back to the actual business... I attempted to contact the creator of Savage Worlds for some "official" support or sponsorship for my game, but no response as of yet. I think I know his cousin, though, so maybe I can go that route... I know one of the authors of a proposed sourcebook for the game lives in NorCal, so who knows? I'll keep everyone updated.

Hey All, I work at Great Escape, and I can answer some questions.

First, nope. No shirts. We do have a shirt design, but we haven't had the shirts made yet.

I'll call the boss a little later, when I suspect that he might be in, but there wasn't a game day on the master calendar that I have seen ... and as of now I am planning on running a (hopefully) fairly large turn out Warlord CCG event that day.
This sounds potentially bad.
If the room is being used, will we have access to 2 tables?

Kerebus - who are you at Great Escape?
That's great that someone from GE is a member of the boards.

mistergone - if you're depressed by reading rumors of Dallas Beer Girls, you should read arthur's depressing New York GameDay attempts - it seemed that didn't do that well, which seems amazing to me, since it seems there would be a lot of players there.

Also, my friend that ran the Monster Island demo is a writer of their products, and was just announced as a member of the Design Team for Goodman Games' San Angelo City of Heroes : http://www.goldrushgames.com/news.html#sacohdev
He got the Monster Island swag for last GameDAy.

It looks like at this point we need comfirmation of whether Nov 8th is OK with GE, and simply need more players to express interest/plans in coming.
I have to check with my wife and our schedule, and will get back.

Soryy I haven't checked in recently. First shot at the internet in a few days. This move has created all kinds of hell and havoc for me!

I've received an e-mail from the owner of Great Escapes and we can still reserve 3 tables, the competing CCG tournament notwithstanding. Nov. 8th is a go if we can get the people.

I'll accept responsibility for the confusion. In taking on the organizational mantle for this thing I should have had someone confirm the venue before announcing it. Ah well, growing pains! :o

I'm gonna once again try to get some of my lazy-ass friends to join up, but none of them are registered hre on ENWorld, and in fact two of them currently don't have internet access even. I'm not expecting a resounding response, but I know one of them has expressed interest in trying out Hackmaster. If I can sign people up by proxy, then maybe we can get a couple more... maybe.

On a very thinly related note, while I am thinking of it, does Windex work on taking wet or dry erase marker off a vinyl battlemat? Uh, hehe, the whiteboard colored markers I got for my battlemat are stubborn in coming off totally.

edit: oops, added that not in there, sorry to get hopes up.:(

ByteMe is a proxy sign up as is HackJoe. Both are seemingly allergic to ENWorld. So, sign away mistergone!

As to your battlemat, I'm no expert. I just know I use wet erase on my battlemat and dry erase on my whiteboard and never the twain shall meet! I'm sure someone will have some more sagely words for you.

Let's fill those slots people! We've still had no volunteers to run D&D or AD&D.

Yeah, I really hope someone runs some 3.5 D&D in the second session so I can play a little.

Here's a thought: Gold Rush Games is in Elk Grove. Anyone consider contacting them for some support, aid, or whatever? They just released a dual-statted product for Mutants & Masterminds. Just a thought.

As to the Question of who I am. Rich Carter, sometimes known as just 'Carter' around the shop. I don't work a standing shift, just coverage so some people can take a day off on occasion.

I'm kinda making a big deal about this CCG tournament, dragging folks from the Bay area up and stuff. So you can understand my concern. But, to the benefit of the EN folks, I will likely be getting there early that saturday to make sure the game room is as squeaky clean as is reasonable.

As to the game mat question. Letting windex soak in can give you some luck, but Comet will give you quicker and better results.

Sounds like a good event you folks have cooked up, looking forward to seeing it.

I just read over on RPGnet that they are having a game day in the bay area also on Nov. 8th. They're having "industry professionals" attend and seem to have the full support of a local game store and some game companies. Now, not to sound bitter, but it makes me... I dunno. Disappointed. I suppose they can manage that because the administrator of their board lives in the bay area and obviously has connections there. Up here, we have... uhm... what do we have?

FYI, what's going on in the Bay Area that weekend is part of a promo tour for GenCon SoCal. Peter Adkison has been flying to a different city each weekend this month, doing appearances to promote the con. Some of the exhibiting companies were asked to participate, and this is why I and Aaron Loeb (author of the Book of the Righteous) will be appearing at game stores in the area Nov 7-9. So yes, it's true we'll be at End Game during the rpg.net game day on the 8th, but we'll also be at Great Escapes on Sunday, Nov. 9. So we're heading your way, just not on Saturday.
