NorCal Game Day II. January 31st 2004 at Gamer's Keepe in Vacaville?

It appears that the owner of Great Escape Games tried to get ahold of folks to get some information of this Game Day, as it turns out this was a complete surprise to all the powers that be.

But, since no responses were forthcoming last week, a premiere release event has been scheduled for the 8th of November for the new version of the Warhammer 40K card game.

I would highly suggest that someone taking a hand in organizing this gameday call great escape at (916) 927-0810, ask for Gary or Ed. Becasue at this point you folks might be SOL.

Hm, well, considering that news and the news that ENWorld is going down tomorrow or so... Is it just a wash then? This thread is the main source of communication and the focal point for finding out about the event and organizing it. Without it, I think we are simply doomed. Sad. Normally I may not be willing to give up so easily, but this just really seems to be a ship that's sinking fast.

I think thereis a NorCal Game Day future, but just not as soon as we would have liked. Maybe if/when the boards come back up, we can pick it up again and reorganize.

Bloodymage

I've received an e-mail from the owner of Great Escapes and we can still reserve 3 tables, the competing CCG tournament notwithstanding. Nov. 8th is a go if we can get the people.

Kerberus,

The owner is supposed to be aware that this is going on, as you can see from the above quote. However, in order to make sure all goes smoothly, I'll drop into Great Escape personally to talk to either Gary or Ed to see what's going on with all this.

Mistergone and others, I don't think this needs to be a washout at all. We can still make it work.

EDIT:

Well, it seems that there has been something of a mixup or a misunderstanding regarding the 8th November. I'm going to try to email everyone who is interested in the NorCal Games day event. I think Mistergone may well have the right of it, and that we should postpone for another day.

Hm, looks like we'll have the boards around for a while to come still. Good news, but still, I think November 8th is an unlikelyhood. I'd say now to defineately push it back some and re-organize.

I'm going to call and find out what's up. Communications seem to be pretty well crossed up. AFAIK, we're still on for the 8th, but that could change once I hang up the phone. I'll post again tomorrow.

Gotta let y'all know that I'm reluctant to change the date because I only get a Saturday every six weeks. Sundays are cool, except it's my regular HackMaster day. Other than that, I'm out o' luck trying to coordinate my days off with most other folks. :(

So yes, it's true we'll be at End Game during the rpg.net game day on the 8th, but we'll also be at Great Escapes on Sunday, Nov. 9. So we're heading your way, just not on Saturday.
Wow - you'll be there on Nov 9th?

Guys, that might just be fate, telling us that the 9th might be better.

After checking my schedule, Nov 8th is a no-go for Tory Adore and me : season-ending big hoopla dinner for Ren Guild.

Well, I just got off the phone with Gary at Great Escapes and even though another card tournament was set up after he sent his email to me (he never got my reply!), he still says he could probably reserve us 3 tables but we'd have to deal with the noise. Because of the time element and the rumblings and misgivings in this thread, I told him that we'd postpone our event.

I definitely want a rotating venue for our little event. I'm going to suggest once again that we spend a day in the Bay area. My next Saturday off is December 20th! Like I said before, Sundays are the only other days I have available. I do have the HackMaster tournament module in hand and Kenzer & Co. is sending me some cool swag for prizes. So, talk up some dates and locations people, for a rescheduled NorCal Game Day II. :D

umm.. how bout the 9th?

Well, it's Monday and no one has added to your push to coordinate our event with the celebrities visit, so AFAIC, our Game Day is off for this weekend. Even if we tried to do it Sunday, we have virtually no players signed up and I'm a working man. I'm not up to trying to get this thing organized in less than a week. :(

So, you guys hash over a Sunday to come unless you want to push it back to the 20th of December, my next Saturday off. You Bay area folks, give me the names again of some friendly shops with playing space and I'll personally make the necessary phone calls. We'll definitely make it back to Sacto but I also want to make this into a traveling show! ;)

If anyone wants to meet and talk with Chris Pramas of Green Ronin and Aaron Leob, author of Book of the Righteous (a righteous game supplement!) they will be at Great Escapes this coming Sunday, the 9th.

In the meantime, we need to hash out another time and venue for a rescheduled NorCal Game Day II. :D

In Palo Alto, GameScape is a good shop. It's not huge, but they've always been extremely friendly and helpful when I went in. Seemed to do their best to get rid of the "Glare at Outsiders" mentality that's been stereotyped.

Phone number is:
- (650) 322-4263

I live in Mountain View, but actually game in Fremont, and have come to think that the Fremont/Pleasanton area is a pretty good nexus -- the Sacto folks and the San Franciscans and the Berkeleyites and the San Joseans all have about an equally unpleasant-but-not-horrific drive to get to those places. Fremont is home to Scenario Game and Hobby Shop: (510) 792-9333. I've only been there a few times, but I do know that they're huuuuuuuge, and are more likely to have some way of accomodating large numbers of people.

Really, though, and pardon the newbie, if we're talking Bay Area, CA, we really ought to figure out if some gamer somewhere has access to an old abandoned Dot-Com building. No lacking for floorspace and cheap office furniture then... :) Seriously, is there a reason to hold it at a gaming center rather than somewhere else? As I said, clueless newbie.
