NorCal Game Day, Part Deux (planning)

I took this off of page six. I don't even have an internet connection at present and I'm the one pulling this thread out of the grave yet again. Guys n gals, I don't care where we play just as long as people participate. I dunno, maybe I rub people the wrong way. I tried and tried to get a response for the first NorCal Game Day with little success. Tsunami then stepped in and got a decent response! Good thing I'm past all those ego and self-esteem hangups.

Gary and John, I hear ya. I thought on givin' the Bay area crowd another week or so, but we're fast running out of time. Sacto it is. You guys do your magic for us again, if you please?

We have a place. We have a date. Now we need GMs and players once more. I will run a sanctioned local Hackmaster tournament as I mentioned before. Once there's a significant response in this thread, I'll post a signup thread with a concrete schedule. I figure it'll closely resemble our last game day.

I'd also really like for you guys to hustle up some prizes. Last time, mistergone generously donated some of his private collection, but that really shouldn't be necessary. Also, most of you are far removed from Turlock, so the gift certificate I brought was a bit hard to redeem. People travel to the Capitol, the Bay Area, Santa Cruz, even Eureka, for heaven's sake! People don't travel to Turlock. Let's get some cool products and gift certificates from some of the more urban retailers in NorCal, OK?

It's really time to get moving on this. The day will be upon us before we know it! Have fun with it and good luck.

I'm curious - how do you propose we get retailers to grant prizes?

I'm ignorant about this - why would a retailer want to give out money to a group they don't know or care about?
I think it would be an uphill battle to get a certificate from Great Escape, even, and he benefits from having product purchased at his store by us!

P.S> bloodymage -that sig of yours is out of control - could you edit it, taking out the html or converting it to UBB code, or just don't add it to your posts? Thx much.

I also, am disheartened somewhat by the lack of interest in doing the little amount of work it takes to get a GameDay going... I was quite amazed the first one went off as well as it did.

But I wouldn't look at the page # this thread is on as too big of indicator - when it comes a month away is when we should need to see more certain planning.

Also, there's only 25 posts per page now, so it seems farther away than it was in the past.

I see the lack of DM's as being the major issue for a 2nd NorCal Gameday running.

I'm willing to DM a session. D&D 3.5, AU, d20 Modern, WarCraft, Star Wars, or my newly purchased Mutants and Masterminds are all possibilties. I'd like to try something besides standard D&D, though. As such, I'm willing to create some pregen PC's for those without whatever game I end up using. :)

I'll volunteer to run a Savage Worlds game. It'll be something simple, a big combat scenario really, but have some other game elements in it. I've never run SW before, but I have it and I like it, and I think I could pull it off. Plus hopefully it will get people interested in this game, which is a great little rules-set, if somewhat basic. I'll make pre-made characters and everything. I think I can handle up to 5 players. If it goes really well, I might be able to run 2 games in one day. I would recommend that potential players check out www.peginc.com and download the TestDrive 3.0 rules .pdf so they have a small idea of what they're getting into.

Hm, maybe bumping this thread in the middle of the night is just asking for it to get shunted to page 6. Anyways, one last bump for good measure, then I cease my crusade.

Where's bloodymage? Anyone?
