[Nov] What are you listening to?

"By the Way" by The Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Something about hearing the Zephyr Song on the radio made me make an immediate side trip to Borders to grab the CD. And I've been listening to it all week now. Probably will get tired of it soon, but it's really one of their best albums!

Others include Led Zeppelin's Physical Graffitti. Only my favorite album ever! I probably listen to it at least once a week. When I don't listen to that one, I'm listening to Houses of the Holy. The Rain Song gets me along the same lines The Zephyr Song does. Just beautiful music!

Oh, yeah...I got some Elvis in my car right now...listening to him sing Amazing Grace and Danny Boy is just incredible. The man had THE voice.

I've been on a musicals in general kick this last month, listening to homemade mixes of everything from Les Miz to Forbidden Broadway. Avenue Q is pretty funny :)

I pretty much am never in my car without at least one Counting Crows cd or Alan Parsons Project cd.

I've been listening to the following:

Audioslave
Flogging Molly Drunken Lullabies
Smashing Pumpkins (mix CD)
Ben Harper Diamonds on the Inside
Iron Maiden Live After Death

These are the CDs that are in my car, and since I moved recently I haven't unpacked the boxes containing my other CDs. I'd like to have something else, but right now, I don't know where they are...

I just got myself another Jimmy Smith CD, Root Down Jimmy Smith Live!

For those unaware, in the patheon that is Jazz Music, Jimmy Smith is the greator god of the Hammond B3 Electric Organ. I own more of his stuff than any other artist, so He'd have to be my favorite musician.

The song Root Down is the same one that the Beastie Boys redid later.

Mostly I've been listening to music at work and thats a mix of Weird Al songs, stuff off the Doctor Demento 20th Anniversary and Green Jello. Thats about all.

About the only music I listen to at home is when I'm playing games and thats mostly the stuff on SSX3.

I've been listening to a mix cd of metal classics. Some Ozzy, Black Sabbath, Metallica, Montrose, Sammy Hagar, Van Halen, UFO, Queensryche, etc. Good stuff.

Currently listening to? Schubert's 9th symphony. Pretty good stuff ;)

At the moment on my desk are discs of Orff's Carmina Burana, The Best of the Gypsy Kings, The Asylum Street Spankers Hot Lunch, Groove Armada Vertigo, Go Simpsonic With The Simpsons, Harry Nilsson As Time Goes By, soundtrack to O Brother, Where Art Thou?, Talking Heads Remain In Light, The Clash London Calling, Johnny Cash At Folsom Prison, Indonesian Court Gamelon music, The Tiki Tones Play Songs for the Suburban Savage, Paul Robeson Songs of Free Men, and The Traveling Wilburys Volume 1.

I've been told by some folks that my collection makes brains reel...

Using ITunes I have managed to compile a great list of "prepackaged teenage angst" music.

No Pads, No Helmets ... Just Balls - Simple Plan's Album
(I hate) Everthing about You - Three Day's Grace
Like A Stone - Audioslave
The Young and the Hopeless - Good Charlotte's 2nd Album
Numb - Linkin Park
Faint - Linkin Park
Somewhere I Belong - Linkin Park

And of course, I've thrown in Evanescence - even though they themselves dispute the "prepackaged teenage angst" genre of music. Their newest rendition of "My Immortal is classic, having a much better tonal quality when compared to the album version - the video can be found here.
