NWN bugs and patches

Is anyone else experiencing the PC get totally stuck when reloading a saved game?

I save really often because it looks like whenever I forget to save, my henchman dies :p Now I don't mind to pay the 150gp to get it back (I already have almost 100k and don't know how to spend them!), but I prefer not to. However it happens at least twice per playing evening that while reloading, the whole PC just gets stuck and I have to hard-reboot it. :\

Is this a common thing? Is there any basic patch everyone should download? The game is a pretty early print, basic NWN only (no expansions) and the PC uses WinXP.

Other 2 bugs which happened a couple of times each but only require reloading a previously saved game:
- an inventory object is stuck and cannot be moved anymore from its place
- the henchman doesn't attack anymore, but still follows and opens lock

Never had a save cause the PC to lock up while reloading myself, though I have had a save become inadvertantly corrupted after the game has (very rarely crashed), which is qhy I always Quicksave and save properly whenever I save at all as that way I always have a backup save game in case one becomes corrupted.

Inventory Object becoming stuck and not moveable I have had happen, close down the game restart reload and all is well though. This particular bug sometimes occurs while playing online too.

Henchmen not doing anything isnt a bug per se but thier are circumstantial conditions it seems that resets thier existing command from "Guard Me" to simply "Follow". This happens most frequently when they've died and then been re-added into the party again.

The original game did have a few bugs. If you arent playing online at the moment, I will suggest using the auto-update button and download the patch. It will automaticaly give you the latest patch for the version you have installed. I hope this helps. Good luck.

Peace

That's what I meant actually, it doesn't crash when saving, it crashes when loading a saved game. The only solution I've been using so far is to keep 3 saved games all the time: one over-saved rarely, usually when entering a new large location or after starting an important plot, and the other 2 saved alternately (very often, almost every other battle) so that if the first is corrupted the second hopefully is safe. It's kind of frustrating anyway... :\

Eh... the problem is that I don't have web access at home, I was hoping for a patch downloadable from a fan site to install later on at home :)

You have _3_ saved games? I usually have 30-40!

Well, I have older saves at a few important starting points (such as the beginning of each chapter) or before the supposedly best encounters (such as the Spirit of the Wood realm and at the top of the Arcane Brotherhood Tower). I kept them "just in case" I wanted to replay them, but I really don't think I ever will :)

So yes, basically the saved games which I use (meaning that I actually overwrite them and reload them continuously) are only those 3.

I don't know if this is a bug per se. It happened only once. I was playing online and got hit to below 0 hp. I had stabilized and was recovering. I got to -1 hp and on a lark possessed my familiar. I noticed after a time that my character was still unconcious. When I unpossessed, I had stopped healing and was stuck unconcious at -1 hp until I managed to get someone to heal me.

Any thoughts?
