[NWN] LP's Travel Log (Lazybone's Server)

LightPhoenix

First Post
Well, the first thing is that I've never died so much in my life :)

At one point NWN crashed, giving me a strange error - something about a virtual function call. Very odd, never had it happen before.

A very interesting game (not gonna spoil) though... it was nice seeing old and new faces. I gave out gold from a couple treasures sold from our trips to the fens and the crypt, and ended up not keeping any for myself. 1024 gold as I recall, to each person. At the end of this session there was more gold to go around, 900-something. And still all I have is a Dagger +1 and some armor I found tonight right before I crashed. Actually just never found anything of real use.

One thing I've noticed is that we'll occasionally find stuff that's a few levels too high for us (I'm 5th, I don't think anyone is higher). Considering it was mostly evil, it got sold for large sums of money... hence giving it out. I want to see if there's a way that shopkeepers can be made not to buy stuff - I just really don't see a small innkeeper shelling out close to 15000 gold in one night, for two big items. I don't see it happening at all, really.

That's all for now, I'll post something next week when we play.

Might have a go at scripting a forge or anvil on which magic items can be destroyed, incase people want to get rid of Evil items without selling them. Give a small XP bonus instead.

Ooh, I like this idea. I'm not privy to the workings of Lazybones' script, and unfortunately my module got destroyed by my f&(^$# hard drive (which is fixed for good now.. heh heh). I've just recently started rebuilding it, and scripts are a ways away. Even so, I like that idea very much, and I am filching it for my own module at least. I promise to share code :)

This has actually come up on the Bioware boards... they've acknowledged that the options for merchants are pretty limited. You can completely control their inventory, but there's no "maximum gold" option like in PnP. It would be nice to script in a local maximum but at the moment, that's way beyond my abilities. I do like the idea of the item-destroying anvil, however.

I also don't want to give out spoilers (my second campaign group is going into the Moors on Sunday), but I thought you guys played well and adapted to adversity (it took a while, though ;)). When Jaeryn left you guys were left without any heavy hitters, and other than Meric (who's a bow specialist), your only other fighter-type was a 1st level newcomer.

I don't know what happened with that function error. One minute I lost four players, but the other four were fine. It wasn't anything I did!

I also learned that the "unpossess NPC" and "bring whole party to this location" commands are at exactly the same spot of the radial menu, and that if you aren't exactly on the NPC when you try to do the former, you get the latter! Ruined a nice encounter I was running.

Oh well, still learning!

P.S. In Crossroads II, I'll give the merchant more low-level magical items in the 1k-3k range for you guys to spend your hard-earned loot on.

Couldn't you set those two functions to your quicksots?Haven't really messed with being a NWN DM much yet..so I don't know if that would work or not..
