% of encounters from the MM?

What percentage of your encounters come form the Monster Manual?

19% or less. The campaign I run and the one I play in both feature humanoids almost exclusively.

Mostly the MM, but frequently other stuff.

I've found my players really enjoy fighting the 'classic' monsters, i.e. displacer beasts, bullettes, umber hulks, etc.

I use around half. The other half are made with the PHB and DMG.
Humans are the most frequent encounters.

Agreed, PHB races and several others. Well, except for humans, I suppose, technically speaking.

The vast majority of my encounters comes from the MM/PHB.

About 3 out of ten are from other sources. It depends as some adventures will have 100% from MM and others could have relaly low number. BNut I've always viewed the MM to have the most common monsters and since most players are familar with them it makes some sense. I mix it up every now and again to keep them on thier toes.

Possibly apart from some setting-specific ones, yeah. Also, there are exceptions (tarrasque) and many creatures will be common only relative to other creatures of the same CR.

In fact I only have Menace Manual (d20 Modern) and Monster Manual 1 (D&D 3.5), plus a handful of additional creatures in Book of Exalted Deeds, Book of Vile Darkness, and Oriental Adventures. Aaah! I had forgotten that I also own Creature Collection 1, so it says how little use this book sees. So 80% of my monsters come from Monter Manual 1. I may probably use less monsters from MM1 in my upcoming campaign setting, and more from the other sources, so it will be maybe 50%...
