OGL Section 15 Question

That's lame. They should be pressuring the writer to provide them with a decent S15 then, not just sitting around on their arses doing nothing.

:(

Who owns the copyright? If it's the publisher, I would think that they could be held liable for the faulty S15...tho, as always...IANAL.

I have two questions relating to Section 15, and was hoping someone could help me out.

1 - I understand that I need to reference any OGL content (including the SRD and the name of the work that I'm producing) in S15. Do I need to provide any kind of notation in the piece that I'm writing to credit its source? For example, if I'm writing a d20 adventure and use Monster X from Source Y, do I need to add a footnote in the text stating where the monster came from?

2 - Do I need written permission from other companies to use things that are OGL? I just want to make sure I follow the proper procedures.

Thanks very much.

This is my understanding:

I'm assuming you me open game content (OGC) from an OGL source.

1) Do I need to provide any kind of notation in the piece that I'm writing to credit its source?

No, not in the work itself. If you are using OGC from another source you must list all of that sources S15 in your S15.

In regards to using a footnote like Monster X came from source Y. The OGL actually forbids you from referencing another company or product by name outside of section 15 without getting explicit permission

2) Do I need written permission from other companies to use things that are OGL?

No
