Did I miss something or were they only playing the EE one night and back to back then into RotK?

The theaters that got to do the marathon also had FotR:EE from Dec. 5-11, TTT:EE from Dec. 12-15, followed by Triolgy Tuesday on Dec. 16, and the offical opening of RotK on the 17. But it was the normal cut of RotK for the marathon.

If an american company is gonna get it, i hope its industrial light and magic.
That would probably make the effects cost more not less, they are one of the biggest names in the industry, if they are worried about getting it on the cheap they won't go that way, they would go with either a upstart company or a company that does effects for TV shows (that's the whole point of getting it cheaper). I really doubt they would do that though (probably got the special effects for the DVDs written in to the contract for the movies from the start.)

Why not. Is that not the point of an extended version of a film, to include all that you wanted to do, but could not due to the time constraints of a theatrical release.

Not everything would have been cut for time reasons, there would be somethings that cut for other reasons that would merit being included.

Oh, thank goodness. I missed a lot of those scenes from the movie, but I only knew for certain that the Saruman scene and Houses of Healing were filmed.

Now if only they'd release the RotK EE before next November ...

Well, that blows. I live here in Southern California and I didn't hear a thing. Maybe because I've been up to my elbow's in work. *bleh*

Don't think so. Curent rumor is end of May for the TC of RotK, thats a few months eariler the the other two. New Line does not have another LotR movie to pimp. The EE will be out for november I think. They have to do all the commitaries, ect..

I heard PJ's orginal cut of RotK was 4 hours, 55 minutes. He trimed it to 3h 20m foir the TC. I don't think PJ would put all of what He cut back in.
