On the bright side there are only a finite number of 70's shows to make a movie about

I liked the Dukes of Hazard, but why make a movie on it. I realize they have monkies throwing darts at an old TV guide to see what they should make into the next big movie but shoudn't they, well stop. Is what they aren't making really that bad?

When will the insanity end?

Plus how did Ashton Kutcher become such a big star? My only theory is the devil does exist.

Eventually, the well will run dry of things to remake. Hollywood fad, methinks. I guess we have to take the good with the bad. I'll just chalk this up to another corporate money-making venture and ignore it. :)

Yes, there's a limited number of 70's shows to remake. But, you're gonna really be hurting once they hit the 80's shows. Having the Different Strokes and Facts of Life movies will make you weep and long for the days of The Brady Bunch and Charlie's Angels films.

The problem I see is that they will remake everything! Look at Rollerball and Planet of the Apes, I figure we will see Jaws redone in the next 10 years, 30 years from now the remake of Matrix, or the remake of the remake of Planet of the Apes. :)

My great fear 80 televisions shows, then 90 television shows, and the 00 shows. 21 Jump Street the Movie, Married with Children the Movie, Friends the Movie!

Run away! :)

I am assuming that you have all either seen or heard that they have remade Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

I would defintely say that it is "in" in Hollywood to remake old films/TV shows that don't really need to be remade.

Dang it, if you're going to remake a 70's show, let it be The Six Million Dollar Man. Of course, that'll have to change to [Dr. Evil]100 billion dollars[/Dr. Evil]. But think of the SFX extravaganza you could have :) Cyborg parts, nanotech viruses, etc :)

Or Fantasy Island.

Or Land of the Lost.

I thought they already did a Dukes' movie that reunited the original cast members. I don't see it being a big hit especially if they have B(itch) Spears in it.

However, I wouldn't mind seeing the new version of Get Smart...

They did in the mid 90's, but that was just a made for TV movie. This is going to be a "major motion picture".

They tried that already, about 10 years ago. It had both Don Adams and Barbara Feldon in it, but it was built around the character of Maxwell Smart Junior, played by Andy Dick. It only ran for about half-a-dozen episodes before Dick got angry and quit about creative differences, and then joined the cast of Newsradio instead.

And I think they've made about 3 or 4 totally awful $6M man tv movies.
