Ong-bak

reveal

Adventurer
If you like martial arts flicks or just action movies in general, you have to watch Ong-bak. One of the best pure actions movie I've ever seen. The story's flimsy, but the action is just :):):):)ing awesome. No wires, no stunt people, no computer imagery. Just pure action and it is amazing!

Or in other words, feel free to skip the first eight chapters, you won't be missing much, if anything.

If you like story, sure. But if you like action, no. You'd be missing out on a ton of awesome stunts and fight scenes.

The tree bit did nothing for me, but I can see others being interested in that. Still nothing special however.

Other than that there is one cool kick, so as I said you're not missing much of anything, because the rest is just set up.

Mind you when I say eight chapters, I am refering specifically to the dvd that just got released in the US.

I finally got it from Netflix today and watched it, and while I agree the action scenes are great, I think the story is actually pretty decent, too. Maybe not original, but then really, nothing is. But the story was well done.

Really, the whole movie's not about Tony Jaa's character or the fights, but the guy with bleached hair and how he turned his back on his village (indirectly he caused this whole thing by asking that drug dealer guy to look at that amulet thing), only to ultimately redeem himself at the end of the movie.

You can imagine my dissapointment when one of my players unveiled his new character. A monk named...wait for it.....Ong Bak. After groaning, then laughing at him, I told him about the movie. He swears he didn't know about it. Sure.
