D&D 5E [OOC] A Light Hearted Princes of Elemental Evil Hack and Slash

I had one misunderstanding with Tolan's attack I noticed where I thought he double attacked but didn't roll it in Round 1.
Yeah Frenzy is a weird ability.
It has to be activated with rage. Activating rage is a bonus action, the bonus attack from frenzy is a bonus action, so you can't activate and get two attacks. But even if you did somehow end up with two bonus actions, the ability states the option is only available "on each of your turns after this one."

Also, I think we can all agree my dice luck has left me.

I'm glad the maps are appreciated. It's not too hard to do, I'm just learning the tools as I go. They also act as a pretty good rules check. I doubt I will actually be as able to update the maps on weekdays.

As an aside, I don't recall anyone having used their inspiration dice yet. I have the same problem in my real life group. I want to be generous with inspiration and reward it every time someone goes out of their way to do something cool, but nobody remembers that mechanic in the moment. Hrm... on that thought maybe I should put a physically visible marker on the gaming table when we play so people remember it's there.

I was saving it for a "boss" fight, which I imagine this one is, but so far I've had advantage on all of my attacks. I was going to use it during the infiltration, but the Actor feat took care of that one too. Not that I'm asking for Damien to have to make a save or anything, LOL.

I don't think I have any at the moment...but yeah, I have that issue in other games too. I just totally forget whether or not I have any. :)

I think I may be experiencing withdrawal symptoms. 12 hours without an update, should we be scared? ;-)

All kidding aside, I face a similar situation regarding inspiration. If Thaliss is to blast, he'll make sure that he has advantage because otherwise, it's better to do something that will do some control (like illusions).

Question for [MENTION=95059]Forged Fury[/MENTION]: I've made a point of picking invocations that you'don't have, to avoid stepping on your toes. If you want to use the darkness/devil's sight more often, Thaliss could also swap out his Misty Visions evocation for Devil's sight, so there would be more synergy during combat. Our characters are already quite different (you're is melee, mine more like a wizard), so I don't think it would be a problem, but I wanted to discuss it with you first. The advantage in darkness is quite a nice gambit. I'm also tempted to go Pact of the Tome with the book of ancient secrets invocations, so I may not end up having the spare invocation for Devil's sight.

Leading me to my question for [MENTION=552]Creamsteak[/MENTION]: I'm looking for options for when we level up, and wanted to know your thoughts on the Warlock's pact of the chain. Would an Imp, quasit or pseudodragon share their magical resistance when within 10ft of their master, as per the MM (page 63 for the quasit, page 69 for the imp, page 254 for the pseudodragon)? Arguments in favor are that this isn't game breaking and is comparable to other character's abilities (figure the moon druid's chapechange) and that familiars don't scale well with level, like other warlock pacts, making this balanced. Arguments aginst is that this isn't expressly called out in the PHB (but the MM cam out afterwards). Your ruling will impact weather I pick pact of the tome or pact of the chain for Thaliss when we level up, because a beefed up familiar is a bit useless without the magic resistance considering that you can get a normal familiar with pact of the tome + book of ancient secrets invocations.
Thanks and cheers,

SG

I wouldn't worry about your build based on my choices. I'm also pretty sure you can't swap out invocations, unless Creamsteak were to allow it (you could, of course, pick it up separately). I'm not really planning on using the Darkness gambit all that much, but considering we're fighting roughly 2-to-1 odds, I figured it would be a good way to reduce a lot of combat effectiveness for the enemy very quickly. Once I get 3rd level spell slots, Armor of Agathys may become my real go-to spell, saving Darkness strictly for annoyance rather than as a defensive/offensive aid.

Vis a vis imps & Magic Resistance, Mearls (at least) has shot that one down (although note that Mearls is not the rules guy and, in any event, Sage Advice is not an official ruling, even when coming from Crawford). http://www.sageadvice.eu/2015/08/10/do-chain-pact-warlocks-get-the-familiars-magic-resistance/ Magic Resistance is pretty good in 5E. There was a rather involved discussion about it in another PbP on these boards recently.

You actually can switch evocations, but only when you level up. PHB page 107 under the Eldrich Evocation heading [sblock]Additionally, w hen you gain a level in this class,
you can ch o o se one o f the invocations you know and
replace it with another invocation that you could learn
at that level.[/sblock]
You can also change 1 spell you know when you level up. [sblock]Additionally, when you gain a level in this class,
you can ch o o se one o f the w arlock spells you know
and replace it with another spell from the w arlock
spell list, w hich also must be o f a level for w hich you
have spell slots[/sblock]
Thaliss will definitely be taking advantage of this.

Thanks for the link regarding the magical resistance. I'm leaning more and more towards pact of the tome. Thaliss will end up with an almost absurd amount of cantrips (3 from sorcerer, 2 from warlock and 3 from pact of the tome)!
Cheers,

SG

Hrm. I guess the intent is for them to be different creature's, though I find that kind of lame. That said, I guess I'll go with the ruling they are different for now.
