Okay!

The recruiting thread is up.

Stop in, say hi, post your characters. Since I now have access to all my books again, feel free to change your characters to add Complete series info to them.

Are you asking for feedback, or offering details for the things we didn't figure out?

If the former: I love the heck out of this game. It's one of the only games I've been in where I routinely have no idea what's coming next, but once we get there, I give a head smack and think "well, why the heck didn't I see that?" And the RP and setting stuff is just so much fun. And creepy. I mean, where else am I going to find psychotic henchmen with exploding masks?

If the latter: Apologies if I glossed right over it, but I'm a little vague on if the first robo-vamp destroyed the estate on orders from Pigglemorth (whom I assume didn't know his daughter was there), or if it had run amuck on its own. And was Alek connected at all other than the fact Pigglemorth hated him and Alek basically runs that section of the city? That last one maybe shouldn't be answered, since Alek's still around and likely to recur in the second chapter, but I can't help it. :)

Okay, enough babbling from me.

I loved the exploding masks. The scene in which they were originally discovered I had playing in my mind. Then, when Torhan split off to interview Sasha, I had the best opportunity to explain what was happening without breaking the suspense or making folks feel like they had a last second opportunity to take it back. I LOVED writing that post. Honestly, I don't think the scene would have even played out quite so well in face-to-face play.

The odd, psychotic nature of the masked thugs was one way to increase horror. I mentioned that the game was "CSI meets Silent Hill." One of the things about Silent Hill that just ups the "wrong" factor is that the monsters seem troubled. They really should stop and fix their own problem. But no, they're more interested in attacking you, regardless. So, you had bird-peck guy. A thug armed with a scalpel. People with locked masks.

...and, Marionette.

I've had the story of Pigglemorth and Adalavas rolling about in my head ever since Ravenloft was first published. It finally had to come out. As for what really happened, you'll find out quite a bit rather quickly, I'm sure.
