Y'know, this new plot twist with the Black Dragon reminds me of an event from back in Book One, in Dorukan's Dungeon...

Remember that Chimera the Order's slain? The one in a "committed relationship"?

She might be tempted to come after the Order to avenge her mate as well...

For a while now, I've thought that the overall story arc we are seeing is the disentigration of the party without Roy and that this arc would culminate with everyone in the party dying but Durkon, who would as his dying act ressurect Roy. Then, the next great arc would be Roy reforging the party, one by one.

And Sending to the party won't help either, since no one in the fleet can Teleport. If they could, then they would have shown up in Greysky after the cleric of Loki cast Sending to Durkon. They didn't.

Durkon should be able to Wind Walk (he's at least Cleric 11). That's fast enough.

I also suddenly love the idea of a dragon going after a PC with dragonscale armor because said armor is made from their relative, and they want it for sentimental value/burial.

Ooh, here's a thought: A dragon's ghost is haunting somewhere and causing massive damage. The only way to destroy the ghost is to burn its remains, which entails among other things tracking down whoever's wearing its hide.

Or it could be a DM sick of Vaarsuvius's player pulling a lot of gratuitous crap - leaving the party for no good reason, rules-lawyering about being able to go without trancing, et cetera. This could be a none-too-subtle hint to V's player to get back with the rest of the group.

While there are people who won't accept this as true, there are no players and there is no DM. The characters are the characters and that's that.

Yeah, someone has to rez Roy now! I miss him:(
I think too many people miss Roy so much, that they fail to appreciate what's present in mere regret for what's past.

I don't miss Roy. Honestly I wouldn't mind if he remained away for a few hundreds strips more. I doubt he will remain apart for that long, but I wouldn't mind it at all: This dragon business is right now more interesting than anything Roy ever did on earth. Same with Belkar's "character development", same with imprisoned O-chul, and same with Roy in *heaven*. The orc-ninja-girl storyline didn't interest me as much, but tastes ofcourse differ.

Some of the best moments in the comic have come since Roy's death. I think people would enjoy them more if they didn't always keep saying to themselves "when will Roy be back".

Roy is the classic heroic adventurer wannabe - the iconic guy who wants to do good. He is also pretty intelligent and he also provides the focus for party efforts. Without him, the sticks do not form any order - Durkon and Elan gravitated toward nearest center of power, Haley and Belkar failed to accomplish any party goals (they were content with hiding for long period of time). And the fairy girl is an NPC - she's not moving plot forward.

Sadly, Roy may be back too late to accomplish anything. And, unless Rich ignores the rules, he is going to be sorely lacking in terms of power (long downtime, one level lost) as compared to other characters. If I were Roy's player, I would roll a wizardly brother of Roy.

Regards,
Ruemere
