Oots 628!!

I think too many people miss Roy so much, that they fail to appreciate what's present in mere regret for what's past.

I don't miss Roy. Honestly I wouldn't mind if he remained away for a few hundreds strips more. I doubt he will remain apart for that long, but I wouldn't mind it at all: This dragon business is right now more interesting than anything Roy ever did on earth. Same with Belkar's "character development", same with imprisoned O-chul, and same with Roy in *heaven*. The orc-ninja-girl storyline didn't interest me as much, but tastes ofcourse differ.

Some of the best moments in the comic have come since Roy's death. I think people would enjoy them more if they didn't always keep saying to themselves "when will Roy be back".

Heh, I like Roy and all, but I thought that the strip was positively starved for old-school Belkar when he had the curse on him.

When he finally just went batshit on the whole thieves guild was just a stand-up-and-cheer moment :)

It's not so much that I miss Roy for roy's sake. He was the one who kept the group together though. Haley might have managed as well I guess, but Roy was the one everyone looked up to. Plus the guy's brain was tastier than an elf wizard's!

Man, can't get to ENWorld for a day, and everyone's said everything there is to say about OOTS! Oh well.

You know, didn't V say "disintegrate" 4 times to Qarr just now?

What's compelling about this plot twist is that it was clearly foreshadowed long ago. I went back and reread the strips in which the party encountered the adolescent black dragon, about 450 strips ago. The strip clearly indicated there was another dragon unaccounted for. Was Mr. Burlew really planning this the whole time? :uhoh:

As another poster said, the hydra the Order fought had a significant other, who has never appeared. Should we go back to strip #1 looking for monsters and characters mentioned but never shown?

When you are writing something open-ended, it is good to leave a few loose plot points you can rediscover later and make everyone think you planned them all along. I am not saying this is what it is, but both are good writing AFAIK.

I'm just surprised V's had sex. How awkward would that be?

"Wait, are you sure you want the lights off again, V?"

I can't even fathom what turns on V. Except maybe halflings.

Rich has said he's got the whole series from start to finish in his mind, though whether that includes details like this I can't say. Certainly, if this turns out being a major plot point (e.g. the thing which pushes V to the dark side), then it would make sense that he'd have put the wheels into motion so long ago.
