Order of the bow initiate

i dont have CW on hand, but whatever order of the bow initiate's level 10 ability is called allows sneak attacks and OotBI bonus damage to be applyable at distances of 60 feet instead of 30 feet. presumably because with so much training, his accuracy is uber awesome.

my question is whether or not a lvl 10 OotBI can apply point blank shot damage at a range of 60 feet as well. While not stated explicitly, i think that PBS, SA, and the 1d8 bonus damage are all range limited for the same reason...need for accuracy, not just a hit. In other words, i think point blank shot would apply at distances of 60 ft in this situation, as well as the +1 AB.

Is this wrong?

edit: added in AB

Yes, by the RAW. If it included Point Blank Shot, it would say so. You should not read into an ability what is not there.

Having said that, your rationale is sensible. It would not be an unreasonable house rule.

He's a RBDM, that's why. :p That kind of rule can devastate PCs. What do you do if you're in the middle of the forest and start getting hit with sneak attacks that could be coming from anywhere up to 120 feet away?!

I made up my own Zen archer one-shot-one-kill PrC about two years before the CW OotBI appeared. It had a super-shot special usable as a standard action within the first range increment.

It was designed to be comparable to the original OotBI, so it's probably over the top compared to the new OotBI, but I haven't got around to toning it down yet. Check it out here:

I would allow all precision damage within the 1st range increment, but then I have an ulterior motive.

Actually, a great many other D20 game systems use that rule to begin with as the basic rule for 'presicion damage' bonuses. It makes a lot of sense, and while it greatly increases the effectiveness of certain weapons (most notably bows), it significantly reduces the effectiveness the same abilities with many other weapons (most notably, anything thrown).

Of, course, it also means that ranged touch attack spells and spell-like effects will require some sort range increment (which I always thought they should have).

Interesting class... It does seem more flavory compared to the OotBI incarnations.
