Sweden draws with Argentina 1-1 after leading formuch of the seconf half. Englands manages a 0-0 draw with Nigeria. So Sweden wins Group F and England is runner up. The Swedes have been really playing with grit so far. I'm a little surprised England and Nigeria went to a scoreless draw. I expected more offense.

Brazil, who were unconvincing in qualification, now look favourites, but the way things are going, there's a dozen teams who could do it

1) Hopefully the US will continue to play hard and not take Poland lightly. We're in very good position to move into the second round, especially since Korea and Portugal must still play one another. I have my team USA jersey ready for Friday!!
2) GO SWEDEN!! They may not play the most up-tempo, flashy brand of soccer, but the Swedes will always be my second favorite rooting interest (see my post in this thread from a week ago for a thorough explanation).
3) Being a good part Irish, I'm happy to see Ireland advance. But, at that same time I'm sad to see some of the high octane African nations going home early.
4) The world can celebrate -- France has been eliminated after a pathetic effort defending their title. A new champion will be crowned this year.
5) Random comment: I miss the exciting and gritty Dutch along with their orange jerseys. In their stead, I think Denmark has found a place in my heart this tournament.

Football is strange. Every time there is a world cup some third rate artist composes a hymn/pop-song. This song is invariably awful. However, if the team is doing great the song becomes great too. This year an artist that I truly detest (Martin, not Uggla) made a song for Sweden. I heard it on the radio just now and I got shivers down my spine. This song will bring down the house for months to come.

Being a Swede and a guy who has seen both team play I would say 60/40 in favor of Denmark. No kidding...
