Boyle is at University of Illinois --- Champaign/Urbana. Mad as a hatter.

I worked with Boyle on some stuff of a political nature (won't go into it here), but can confirm, he's a trip. He carries the U.N. Charter with him (in some kind of little pocket digest) at all times. I asked him once "Do you always have that with you?" as a joke... He said "Absolutely." Dead serious.

I'm a law school spouse! My wife is in year 2 here at Berkeley focusing on International Law and Human Rights. It sure does take a lot of time and sure is a lot of work. I guess they aren't lying in all of the pamphlets...

AJL

He is working towards giving Hawaii back to the Hawaiian monarchy. And getting reparations to the Irish from the Brits for the famine.

But he means well, no question about that.

Originally posted by Dingleberry Synicism, I hate to tell you this, but the IT practice in Chicago BLOWS lately. For example, my firm focused (notice the past tense) in emerging companies during the dot-com boom, and things have REALLY tanked over the past year and a half. After being forced to do litigation work (which I don't enjoy) to try to keep my hours up, I ended up going part-time rather than face the unspoken alternative of being sacked.

Well, I've got a science background, so I can probably make a living as a patent lawyer, though I know a lot more about trademarks, copyrights, and such. Part of me wants to go into federal law enforcement. The things some people do with computers drives me crazy.

And I'm not talking about trading MP3's or ripping movies either.

Information security is definitely another hot area right now. If you're a member of the Chicago Software Association (www.csa.org), check out the panel discussion on cybersecurity next Friday morning - should be interesting.

That's one fo the reasons I initially went to law school. Law being one of the biggest tracks into the FBI. And I'll shut up now before I get political crap into this thread. Lets jsut say i now longer want to pursue a carreer in federal law enforcement.

Law student here also. I'm a 2L in the Washington area. I want to go into Intellectual Property law, especially patent law since my background is in biochemistry and molecular biology.

Currently looking for a job for next summer- anybody hiring? :D

Here's another question for you attorneys:

Let's say I'm thinking about going to law school, and I'm specifically interested in IP law. Are certain law schools particularly strong in that area? That is to say, are some law schools regarded as more tech-savvy than law schools that are in the same "tier"? If so, which ones?

Law Specialties: Intellectual Property Law (2002 US News & World Report) Top 5 ranks (tie for 5th)

3. Franklin Pierce Law Center (NH)
4. New York University
5. Cardozo-Yeshiva University (NY) & University of Houston

another quarter heard from... attorney since 1989 (Texas), in a small firm that represented government entities (mostly school districts) in a wide variety of civil matters. Took a sabbatical of an undetermined length starting late last year and moved to Dublin Ireland (to be with my fiancee)
