By the way, Heretic, playing a Freeport campaign are we? :D

I WISH!

I have, I dunno, 20 or so boxes of role-playing material. Know how much I've used? Well, back about 9 years ago, I was involved in a game. Not since then. Argh.... (And I spend about $3000-$4000 / year on gaming stuff....)

For those who said Yellow Beard, have you seen it since you were in Jr. High?

Yep. Not too long ago actually.

As for cheesy Pirate films, well there is The Pirate Movie. I must say it holds a soft spot in my memory. I saw it repeated _many_ times when I was a little kid.

A serious pirate movie? Good luck.. There are plenty of flicks out there with serious pirate moments, but I don't know of any, outside of what has been mentioned, that ring Pirate all the way thru.. Except of course: ICE PIRATES

Anyhoo

My favorite Pirate Parody is " The Pirate Movie ". The Pirate movie is Pirates of Penzanz done in the style of "Grease". There is actually a bit of good swordplay in this flick.. Funny as hell if you like cheese. Good luck finding it tho.

If you haven't seen "The Princess and the Pirate" with Bob Hope, from the 1940s, you're missing one of the funniest drinking scenes I've ever seen in a film. It's also a pretty good movie, in general. The island where all the pirates hang out is priceless.

I have got to vote for Yellowbeard too. John Cleese, Cheech and Chong, and several other great comedy actors really make it fun to watch.

"Three farthings for a lump of :):):):), sir?"

Another Flynn Movie,

The Seahawks

And Black Arrow was not so bad either. As long as there is a "Arg" or two and a good sword fight with someone falling out of the crows nest, I'll give it a thumbs up.

Yep. So your sons a gardner, eh?

Ugh, I hated "Cutthroat Island".

Some movies are so cheezy bad, you enjoy them for that reason. But with this movie, I couldn't even enjoy it for the cheeze. It was just bad.

Man, do I have to travel back so far in time to get a good pirate movie? Seems like.

Ugh, Hollywood needs to make a good serious Pirate movie indeed! Not a movie just based in that era, but an actual full pirate movie from start to finish. "Princess Bride" and "Goonies" don't count. :)

I vote for Martin Campbell to direct if some studio greenlights a pirate film. That would be cool I think.

I too can't believe how many votes Cutthroat Island is getting - I thought that was awful - theres only so many times I can take huge explosions in a pirate movie before I lose all suspension of disbelieve. I mean - everytime that gal leaves a building in the movie it blows up!

Treasure Island gets my vote, preferably the one with Charleton Heston as Silver.
