Also, there's Captain Blood. I'm astounded nobody's even mentioned it yet.

In the non-movie side, if you want to do pirates like they are in the movies, you should read The Pyrates by George McDonald Fraser.

Not sure if anyone else has heard this, but Pirates of the Carribean is being made into a movie. By Jerry Brukheimer if I remember correctly...
