[OT]Brett Favre

Three points.

1. I saw the hit several times. It was not helmet to helmet. It was a legal hit in every sense of the word. If it was helmet to helmet or anything else illegal he would have been nailed for it.

2. I find it funny that you find more at fault with the player responding to the provocation and less at fault with the coach who told him to "F- off".

3. The Eagles fine last year was different to a degree. Jim Miller was not moving at all and was hit so quickly that it is hard to tell if the player that hit him could have even known the ball was interecepted. (Assuming of course I am remembering the hit right). Either way though I am against the fine since its hypocritical to give out fines for things on the field that are not in the rules.

I suggest you listen to less shock jocks on the radio and watch the play before commenting. Otherwise you are stuck listening to their biased interpretation of the hit as opposed to forming your own biased opinion. :D

It might be a legal hit, but he should still draw a fine. The same thing happened twice before that I can remember. Two years ago a Brown blindsided a QB after a INT and was fined ~40K. Last year in the playoffs an Eagle blindsided Jim Miller and drew a fine. The only difference between the three is this is a lineman who got blindsided.

Another point, I have not seen the replays, but some of the sports guys on the radio said that there was helmet to helmet contact on the play and that Sapp jumped up to hit him. Finally, all that I read is that the cameras did not show the celebrations but it was on the scoreboard.

Finally I think that Sherman had every right to walk over there and tell Sapp that he that it was wrong, but he should not have gotten into a obscenity shouting match with him. Also, Sapp should not have pushed coaches at all, and shut his mouth instead of saying that "If I was 25, with no kids and a conscience" about how he felt about assaulting Sherman.

There is actually a rule now that the QB cannot be hit on a INT return unless he is attempting a play on the returner. No other player has this protection. So there is actually a rules based difference there.

You're not remembering correctly. The Eagle (Douglas I believe) knew there was an intereception and was standing in front of Miller and just watching him. While Miller was just standing there the Eagle didn't do anything, once Miller made a move like he was going to try to get in on the play that's when he got hit.

I would have to watch that play again then to see everything.

Did Gruden charge over and drop the f-bomb on a Green Bay player for jamming his finger in Brad Johnson's eye? Of course not.

the player purposely did not AIM for the eye. His hand managed to go there..big difference.

He said he's upset because Sapp was proud about what he did and celebrated. That's a total crock. He's just covering up that he was upset about losing the game and his inablility to get his receivers to run the proper routes.

bull. Sapp acted like a freestyling hooligan which is NOT what football is about. Celebrate yes. But not like that. Unsportsmanlike

Football is a physical game. If Sherman can't handle it he should go back and watch some of the hurt that Green Bay has put on the Bucaneers over the years.

oh please like what? What have the packers ever done to to PURPSOEFULLY knock out their players? Name me one. Name me one time you see a Packer gloating and parading around like a clown when they put out a player.

Answer: 0. It won't happen. Why? Because they got class. They don't showboat like the bucs and their fans do. Go back and watch how a team like Gbay, Chiefs, Colts, and so forth celebrate. Small and quick. Not like the WORM that Sapp does. Sapp's a disgrace to football and putting a "Well you did it to us first!" goes to show you how the fans are...

another reason to dislike the bucs...upto 10 now..

I'm sooooo tired of people complaining about football players getting hit. It seems like the in thing this year is to stop hitting.

There's no such thing as a legal cheap shot. Physical domination is part of the game. If you have the opportunity to hit a player legally, you are derelict in your duty if you pass it up.

Gloating and taunting are wrong, but hitting a guy? Come on.

PS

not arguing the hit. It was legal and in the spin of the game. Utterly cheap and having very very lil to do with the game and play itself. Sapp did his job, then did his dance, and acted like a fool.

Clifton got nailed, he got it fair and square, he ought to have been looking. he wasn't got hit, such is life. You don't need to celebrate like a clown when you do it. Show some class, sapp is a thug.

Class my rear-end. I seem to remember a Packers player (Charles MArtin) back in the 86 season who had a "Hit List" of numbers on his towel he wore. It included Walter Payton, Jim McMahon and others. In the very game he wore that towel he blidnsided then BODYSLAMMED Jim McMahon.

Yep good old Charles Martin, class act all the way.

Your comments are pretty funny when they are about a team recently in the news for having an entire strategy designed to let them cheat.

Legal hit

The rules state that you cannot "leave your feet" when making a block.

The Packers played like crap - and Tampa had an awesome defensive game.

We'll see them in the playoffs.

WTH are you talking about? Cheat how? Where? When?

Don't be mad because the bucs are acting like the raiders of the NFC..
