There was plenty of war, disease, and accident around to kill off one parent or another. Plus, you think noble men went around asking "Are you married" before sleeping with a woman and siring a bastard? And the ever-popular tavern wench? In an age where there was no solid contraception, you betcha there were single parents.

3) There will be a big bad. We're on like, what, episode 10 or 12? We still have 14 or 12 episodes left and i think this upcoming episode "Sanity" will be key to the season.

Up to and including Hells Bells, they've aired 16 episodes this season. "Normal Again" is #17 and airs on the 12th, leaving us #18-22, only six more to go. There will probably be some space between those final episodes, so that it will rap up in May, IIRC.

"Normal Again" sounds very much like a stand alone episode, one that had been rumored to appear earlier in the season but is only appearing now. Spoilers....

Buffy's in a mental mixup, as she is under the influence of a demon's poison, by all accounts of the spoilers. Pretty sure she'll break free, but it does mean we get to see Joyce again, and her absentee Dad, who is less absentee in this version of reality.

We may even get the Big Scooby Death as an alternate universe thing, too. Spoilers seem to be drying up for the home stretch, or getting REALLY weird and wild and very unconfirmed. It will be a great ride, though!
