if you are young and reading this (or old and stupid and reading this) never start.

i am 33, have an 18 year habit and let me tell you, any habit is tough to break, an 18 year addiction is TOUGH!

MY GOD MAN I FEEL YOUR PAIN!!!!!

My wife is due to have our first child anyday now and while I have cut way back I have not compeletly quit. I promised myself I would NEVER smoke aorund my child which means any day will be my last and I'm terrified.

I'm also 33. I started smoking during the Gulf War and I have never tried to quit before. I am a COMPLETE addict and I regret EVER starting.

Please please please..........if you do not smoke do not start. I regret it so much.

I hoe they tax the hell outta the things....

I'd vote for flat out illegalization or making tobacoo a Schedule 1 substance. The stuff is insedious..........

Press on Devil Dog!! You can pull though.

The first 72 hours are in fact the worst.

Remember this fact: Cigarette cravings only last about 30 seconds. Every time you feel a craving (which is going to be pretty often for a while) just make yourself wait for one minute and see how you feel. Just wait, don't beat yourself up or whine and moan. Just wait. A minute later you'll feel stronger, more able to resist.

Works everytime buddy.

My wife and I quit in February.

Keep strong.

you can do it.

Immerse yourself into reading. to making more npc's , to making more dungeons. to making more interesting traps. to making a whole civilization under the water from scratch, how they got there, how they live, how they die, etc.....

it'll keep your mind too busy to think of a toke.

That's a great suggestion!

Every time you get a craving, create something small: a feat, spell, template, monster, plot hook, anything. Just something small enough to occupy your mind for a few minutes at most.

Aw, come on. Smoking is cool. Besides, if you want to quit there's always the "patch" program. You remembered when you were young, wanting to act mature. But now that you're mature, you want to act young before you took up smoking?

Besides, who wants to live forever?

P.S. I personally have seen one of my uncles succumbed to lung cancer due to his smoking habit. It's not a pretty sight. If I'm ever tempted, I only need to remind myself of the image of my uncle, who look much older for his age, imprisoned on a wheelchair, with a food tube through his nose, and that awful wheezing sound as if every intake of air is precious to him.

That is my own personal image of "vile darkness."

It's one thing about not wanting to live forever, it's quite another to let smoking determine how you are going to spend your last days on this earth if you do not quit.

Hang in there, alsih2o.

My mom was a nurse, and she brought an ex-smokers lung home one day to show my father.

It was brown-yellow and had black spots all over it. Not really 'gross' yet...
