reapersaurus said:[theoretical] Just a general question to anyone: WHY would it be so unbelievable to you that they would tell some players to play a certain way to guarantee the outcome that 'those in power' would prefer?
We're only talking a handful of people that would ever know. [/theoretical]
Because every person let in on the 'conspiracy' would double the chances that someone would blow the whole deal.
How many times would a professional player ever get the chance to play in the championship game of his sport?
The sport he has probably devoted most of his life to up to that point. Ask the wrong person and *blam* your whole house of cards is destroyed and the intergrity of the entire sport is put into question. Lost revenues from fewer ticket sales, no one buys the jerseys etc. Look what happened to baseball when the players went of strike just before the World Series. That wasn't even close to the level of stuff you're talking about and ittook MLB 4 years to get back to the level of crowds they had prior to the strike.
Would that really be worth it to have the 'underdogs' win?
Even if they happen to be called the 'Patriots"?
Are the Rams any less patriotic than the Pats?
