[ot] Happy Super Bowl Sunday!

[theoretical] Just a general question to anyone: WHY would it be so unbelievable to you that they would tell some players to play a certain way to guarantee the outcome that 'those in power' would prefer?
We're only talking a handful of people that would ever know. [/theoretical]

Because every person let in on the 'conspiracy' would double the chances that someone would blow the whole deal.

How many times would a professional player ever get the chance to play in the championship game of his sport?

The sport he has probably devoted most of his life to up to that point. Ask the wrong person and *blam* your whole house of cards is destroyed and the intergrity of the entire sport is put into question. Lost revenues from fewer ticket sales, no one buys the jerseys etc. Look what happened to baseball when the players went of strike just before the World Series. That wasn't even close to the level of stuff you're talking about and ittook MLB 4 years to get back to the level of crowds they had prior to the strike.

Would that really be worth it to have the 'underdogs' win?

Even if they happen to be called the 'Patriots"?

Are the Rams any less patriotic than the Pats?

I'm not looking forward to working tommorow and cashing all the bets... Though from what it was looking like today most people either bet on the Rams or for ties. Still the people who did bet on the Pats made out like bandits...

Yes.
The Infidels have been defeated by the will of the Lord.
That'll teach 'em.

Dude! You are cracking me up today! :D

"MythandLore invokes the name of the Lord!"

Quite humorous, indeed! :D

(Congrats to the Pats! ;) )

A handful of people with the most colossal advances for bookdeals that we've ever heard of... ;)
There's NO WAY they would be believed.
Besides, theoretically, for discussion's sake, why would they stick a knife in the back of the sport that gave them, and everyone they care about, their livelihood?

pirate cat's patriots won me some money at work.

they all laughed at me when i took any bet against the underdog patriots.

and tomorrow, i shall get my money.

my massive wealth.

my five dollars.

Go Pats! ...and find a place to hide...

Victory is yours! Maybe, if you choose to play something other than football!

Hooray! For anyone wise enough to back the Rams today!

Victory is sweet.

Yet, laughing at everyone who doubted the mighty New England Patriots is even sweeter.

Ha. Ha.

This makes up for all those 1-15 and 6-10 seasons.

GO PATS!!!!!!!!
