Ok, I have written up the Lore-circle effects for my Kai core class. Remember I am trying to stay close to the books. Tell me what you think.

Lore-circles: There are four circles of training within the Kai Order. These only come into effect once a Kai Lord starts learning his Magnakai Disciplines. By choosing specific combinations of Magnakai Disciplines, a Kai Lord is able to increase his martial prowess and stamina.
Circle of Fire: If a Kai Lord has learnt the Weaponmastery and Huntmastery Disciplines, then he has completed the Lore-circle of Fire. He gains +1 on all attack rolls and +2 hit points.
Circle of Light: The Lore-circle of Light is achieved once the Animal Control and Curing Disciplines have been learned. The Kai Lord then gains +3 hit points.
Circle of Solaris: Invisibility, Huntmastery and Pathsmanship are required to complete this Lore-circle. Once achieved, the Kai Lord gains +1 to all attack rolls and +3 hit points.
Circle of the Spirit: This is the hardest Lore-circle to achieve. It requires Psi-surge, Psi-screen, Nexus and Divination. Once achieved, the Kai Lord gains +3 on attack rolls and +3 hit points

Okay, lots of messages in this thread already and I haven't read them all so if someone has already mentioned this, please let me know.

IMHO, the Kai are very much like the Jedi from Star Wars, no?

I was thinking that it might be a good idea to look at what has been done in the d20 Star Wars game for inspiration on the Kai class, and Kai prestige classes (Lord, etc...) as well as how to handle their powers and for ideas on how to integrate them with the more "normal" characters of the world.

BTW. I'm a huge fan of the Series too. I have the first 7 books and two novels which cover the events in the first 3 books mixed with some of the events covered in the Greystar gamebooks and tie the whole storyline together. Lots of flavour information in the novels that I can dig up if you want me to, thugh I suspect that a lot of it is available online if you dig for it.

Good luck with the project! I'm looking forward to seeing some more concrete results.

Well i checked the sourcebook out, pretty handy for you guys who are planning to tackle the D20 magnamund conversion as it basically details all the info from the books.

Also includes all the maps from the books themselves, info on items creatures important people etc.....

12.6 MB i think it is as a word doc but it can be PDF'ed to a 4.51 MB size file which would have been a bit more useful for those with 56.6kbps connections :)
