(OT-Movie) King Conan Project

Aside from TERMINATOR, Arnold Schwarzenegger has long been attached to a KING CONAN feature – a third installment of the franchise now in the hands of the Wachowski brothers (of MATRIX fame). Apparently, there has recently been movement on this project as well.

“I just had a cigar with [CONAN screenwriter] John Milius the other day,” said Schwarzenegger. “He’s re-writing [KING CONAN] as we speak because he had written it; it was 168-page script and then the Wachowski brothers told him that the script would take too much time. It would be a three and a half hour movie and he should cut it down to 120-pages and take certain things out. So that’s what he’s doing right now. But as you know with John things take time. He’s not the quickest guy in town. He smokes a stogie and then he writes a page and then he smokes another stogie.”

I cannot communicate to you how highly my hopes ride on this film. Aside from the LotR films, I don't believe I'm as excitable about any other film. King Conan: Crown of Iron. Man.

Well this is good, good news

The first Conan movie has stood the test of time (The second one, eh...not so much). But with LotR doing as well as it has this looks like it could actually happen!!!

Hopefully this movie is closer to "canon", ie no silly comic relief guy and doesn't just mash a bunch of Conan stories into one lump.
But I am really lookin forward to this movie when ever it happens.

The Kull movie with Kevin Sorbo was originally written as the third Conan movie and then changed to accomodate the new character.

I'd love to see Arnold do a new Conan movie. Maybe now, after the Lord of the Rings has begun, there might be some new interest in the fantasy genre; interest that goes beyond campy and stupid.

for those worried, i don't think milius had anything to do with conan-lite (aka conan the destroyer). this film will definitely return to the roots of the first fil. on the special edition dvd, milius always said he envisioned a conan trilogy, each movie about a different human condition. sadly, i think he was bumped from the second movie.

i am hopeful. listening to the dvd at the end arnold and milius agreed, they've got to do another movie. once it is rewritten, i hope that is so.

King Conan has been in the Rumour mill for some time...

I have read that Millius is going to make it as a true sequal
to the first movie...OH BOY

and FOTR can only add to its coolness as i am sure he will
try and get people who loved Fellowship to come and watch
the new Conan...

This is still years away tho...

The waiting will not be that bad seeing as we have got
two more LOTR flicks coming
