Why? Because I'ma Boinger.

I *still* prefer their original name: Deathtöngue

I still recall Opus working on some lyrics that were something like (and I'm doing this from memory so I may be WAY off):

Let me graze in your veldt
Let me trample your albino
Hey hey, baby,
I'm your LOVE RHINO

If I may quote some other fine Deathtongue lyrics:

"Satan's swim,
Creeping from within,
Demon slime,
Dripping!"

"Clearisil Messiah,
On the shelf,
Zapping zits,
From here to hell!"

"Middle of the road,
Man it's stank,
Let's run over Lionel Richie,
With a tank!"

And yes, I most certainly have the Boingers tear out record.

I will also add one modern comic that is up there with C&H and Bloom County on my charts: Foxtrot!

I think the actual lyrics are:

"Let me grave into your veldt,
Let me stomp on your albino,
Let me nibble on your buds,
I'm your LOVE RHINO!"

Of course, I could be wrong, but I'm sure the 'nibble on your buds' line is in there somewhere.

NIBBLE ON YOUR BUDS!! that's right! How could I have forgotten "nibble on your buds"?!

Next time I'm singing this to my wife, I'll make sure and get that line correct. (Plus, I'm going to make sure I nibble on her buds.) :D

What is most scary about re-reading all of the books are the numerous references to Regean cabinent ministers - people like Casper Weinberger and James Watt - as well as the comments about early 80's celebrities.

I remember the name Paul Kurault - but could not tell you anything about him.

I'll second that one. Foxtrot is pretty funny. Not sure if I'd put it on the same level or not, but it's up there!

haha. I work for the publisher that publishes Berkeley Breathed's kids books. If you ever get a chance or for those of your with kids, read Edward Fudwupper Fibbed Big :) It's the best kids book ever.

I appreciated the humorous social/political commentary of the strips. One of my faves was when they were out hunting for the liberal democrats:

"Gun Control! Gun Control!"

*BLAM*

"OW!! Socialized Medicine! Socialized Medecine!"

Also I recall some sort of orbital mind control ray, aka: The Meese Piece.

Classic.
