Paladinwife, I
am trying to be understanding. But I'm going through problems of my own. I'm taking night classes, and spent over $225 on books and tuition--and that's at the community college level. I had to pay for my car registration, and that's another $135 down the drain. I have to save up for a $1,200 car insurance bill due in December. I'm paying out $190 a month toward my student loans. I'm paying $350 a month toward my car loan. (I could sell my car and try to get a cheaper car, but as I figured it, I'd end up going from a $2,500 remaining loan to a $6,500 loan after I'd bought an older car. Definitely not worth it.)
And this is all after six months of unemployment. My unemployment insurance money cuts off this Saturday. Even with the insurance, that's still only about $8 an hour, down from a net of about $14 an hour at my last job. So not only did I have a HUGE income drop, but now I have no income to speak of. I have three interviews within the next week or so, and if those don't pan out, I am going to have to scrape by. I
might survive for the next two or three months, but that means no luxuries.
We're only talking about $100-$150 here. But that is about 2/3 of a month's food. I'd kind of like to eat. It's kind of a necessity.
And I HAVE been very patient. It's been, what?, three months? I only email him about once a month, so it shouldn't be so onerous. I completely understand his situation, and have supported him in previous rants. His business is excellent, the best I've dealt with so far. His discounts are significant, he doesn't charge taxes, and if you buy enough you don't have to pay shipping. That all added up to savings of up to 30% compared to what I'd pay at retail stores. That's bloody marvelous. That meant I could buy about 40% more from him than I could from a local store.
I'd say that, if I ever get back into RPGs again, I'd buy from him again. He's been great to do business with.
If it weren't for the stomach-growling thing, I'd keep letting him slide. I'm sorry, I'm weak.
