[OT] Twilight 2000

Is that any different than rolling 30 d6's?

It is when you used to play Warhammer and have dozens of d6s but only 2 d20s. :)

Nowadays I have lots of d20s though, maybe it'd work better. There's something about d6s though, they're the definitive die. :)

You didn't use the recoil rules? IIRC, you didn't get to roll for all of the bullets, but like one fourth or something. The rest missed automatically.

I guess the PC had high STR and the SMG burst recoil was 2 - maybe he only rolled 20 or 25d20s - I think 5 5-round bursts was the maximum allowed.

&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp Oops... now that I did the math, it turns out that rolls of 3 were definitely common, and even rolls of 4 weren't unheard of.

&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp Considering that a roll of a 6 on a d6 (as in the Second Edition) on average would happen 1/6 of the time (duh! :p ), that a roll of a 3 on a d20 (as in Version 2.2) woud generally happen 3/20 (a bit less than 1/6) of the time, and a roll of a 4 would happen 1/5 of the time (a bit more than 1/6) of the time. So it all pretty much evens out, with Version 2.2 giving a slightly better chance for better marksmen to hit in autofire. :)

&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp Furthermore, it wasn't a set number that they had to roll under, but the roller's own Asset number set at the Impossible difficulty level. So while some had to roll a 3 or under on each d20 to hit, others had to roll a 4 or under, and others had to roll a 2 or under... and so on.

&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp Hopefully that made things more clear. ;)

&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp Apparently, current die technology has allowed the masses to afford d20's at a cost only dreamt about in the olden days. :)

&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp Here is a page that includes scans of most of the modules for the entire Twilight: 2000 run. :)

&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp It's pretty comprehensive, although I did notice two mistakes right off the bat:

  • The Referee's Screen includes updates for the 2nd Edition of the rules, not for Version 2.2 (as the Referee's Screen was released prior to Version 2.2)
  • As far as I can remember, the Cadillacs and Dinosaurs game didn't also require the T:2000 rulebook.

I *love* this edition of Twilight 2000.

I never got into the yellow-cover edition, much prefered the classic edition, which this is a reprint of.

LOVE it.

If I had more time, this is the ONE game I would run as PBEM or play on-line.

Good Lord Jason, is there anything we don't agree on?

Run this game online and I'll drag out old Master Sergeant Louis James Kowalski, Heavy Weapons specialist for the remnants of the Canadian Forces "22nd Rocky Mountain Rangers".
