I had some comments in that thread. All I want to say ATM is that the "holographic principle" is certainly expected to hold in quantum gravity, but it's fairly vaguely understood except in a few specific situations (which are more or less thought experiments). I think it's pretty unlikely that that experiment is seeing anything really related to quantum gravity.
