Ozzy has passed. Pour one out for the Prince of Darkness.

My heart. Sabbath is one of my all-time favorites.

Favorite is underselling it, really. They were foundational. Everything I love in Metal and huge amounts of what I love in Rock is influenced by them. And Ozzy was the perfect voice for it.

I'm glad he was able to have that final goodbye show, and feel all that love.

I can't think of a farewell tour ever nailing the timing like this.

If you haven't seen it, it's worth hunting down the videos of Ozzy's interview from the Decline of Western Civilization, Part 2.

His peers in the documentary were massive try-hards -- "I'm doing my interview floating in a swimming pool filled with vodka!" "I'm doing my interview laying on a carpet of lingerie, while being fondled by models!"

In contrast, Ozzy was in his very ordinary English kitchen, wearing an old bathrobe, making breakfast.

As he talked about the damage drugs had done to everyone on the scene, he almost completely failed to pour any orange juice in his glass, and instead obliviously poured it all over the kitchen counter.

It's honestly one of the most endearing things I've ever seen, although not exactly an endorsement of the rock and roll lifestyle.
