Pbp game; first time DMing.

I am thinking of playing my first ever Pbp game, which is also my first time DMing; so I wanted some advice and information to help me better run the game.

A few questions:

If I’m DMing and I don’t have a book but a player has that book how do I make sure that the player is not making stuff up to cheat?

Can you suggest a website with a dice roller which can’t be cheated? (I know ENWorld has one, so suggest one other then ENWorld.)

For combat, I’ve heard that it is easier to schedule some time and use a chat room for combat; do you think Facebook would be okay?

Any other advice you have about DMing or PBP games?

Thanks

As the DM, you set the groundwork from the beginning about which books you approve and dissaprove of. If a player wants to use a book, you have the authority to say yes or no.
If you want to have access to more than the books you have infront of you, The Hypertext d20 SRD (v3.5 d20 System Reference Document) :: d20srd.org, google searches, or simply asking the rest of us here are options for expanding your information.

I'm sure others can provide you with better suggestions but I'd say look through RANDOM.ORG - True Random Number Service and see if they have something you're looking for.

I've never done Play by post but sume basic suggestions about DMing: Know what you want to do, prepare it as much as possible, be open to player's input, expect the unexpected, and keep Fun for everyone the top priority!

Good Luck!
