Penetrating Shot and poison

Creating an assassin type NPC for an upcoming campaign, and this question popped into mind...

If a character poisons an arrow, and I have the Penetrating Shot feat, should the poison on the arrow affect everyone in the line of effect, or just the initial target?

EDIT: Rereading the actual feat it says "any extra damage (such as from a sneak attack or a flaming weapon) is applied only against the first creature struck". So I guess the question is, would poison be considered extra damage?

I'd certainly think so. Generally, any dose of poison on a weapon is expended with the first strike. Here's the relevant rules text:

"One dose of poison smeared on a weapon or some other object affects just a single target."

Agreed with MarkB. However, it would be interesting to create a sticky poison that is usable against multiple targets. It should be quite expensive, however.

Alright, thanks for the quick replies!

I think my goliath fighter / scout & kenku ranger / assassin combo could still kick some PC butt!
