So, I've already noticed a couple of people on here using Gary's Futurama avatar. Does that seem...odd to anyone else? I don't know if I would call it disrespectful - I know it's certainly not intended to be disrespectful - but it just doesn't seem quite right to me. Not this soon after his passing, anyway. Or am I just being overly sensitive?

Some folks have been using Gary avatars for years. That's kinda weird to see, but heck, if they're big enough devotees to Gary to use when he was with us, here and posting, I can't see what could make them stop now. It's a fair tribute.

Probably done as a tribute to Gary. They'll probably stop in a few days. After that though, I think the avatar should be retired or something.

I wouldn't want someone who used it since years to stop now. The others will stop anyhow.

No brother, I actually thought the exact same thing. I'm sure the folks using his avatar would say it's a tribute and whatnot, but I'm not happy about it. I'm glad someone brought it up. If we're voting on it or anything, I say leave the Gygax avatar alone, folks.

Sorry, I don't have a problem with it. People should be allowed to show tribute to Gary any way they wish. Heck, my screen name is Flashman on most other boards, and if I knew how, I would be using George McDonald Fraser as my avatar in tribute to the fact that he died a couple of months ago.

What you need to remember is that people handle grief in their own way. Some laugh, some cry, some get mad, some go insane some are simply silent. Those who have been using it for a long time will moist likely never change it now and those that just switched are handling his passing in their own way. As long as they are not going into fast food joints, shopping malls or school shooting people up with guns, I'm fine with their expression of grief.

but i cant lokk ate gary's avatar and dont remember him. so, in my way, i always think of him when i see this avatar. makes me wish that thats only for him.

but i wont fight against, its just my thoughts
