[Petz] Redesigning Battles

* Buying items that grant special abilities
* Training in special abilities
Training is just a type of item - items are either one-use or equipable. Training works exactly llike a potion - a one use item which increases an ability.

I was just wondering if it'd be appropriate for a "reward" to accrue to the winner past the money wagered on the event.

Perhaps a random (minor) item or a small amount of gold.

If you defeated a much weaker opponent, the reward would be correspondingly weak; but on par and David vs. Goliath battles would give greater rewards.

Thoughts?
A decent XP system might be good - like D&D, if you beat something tough, you get lots of XP.

One thing that would be very good, BTW - wherever you see Pet stats (the pet's own page, the battle screen), it would help if the screen displayed equipment.

And then... a special ability could be to steal stuff.... :)

I've been wondering about that, since training takes no slots and you only get 5 slots for items. If you fill all 5 slots with items, then you can't purchase any healing.

It would be good to design something for people to do when they can't get a fight, too. Automated NPC monsters and stuff, perhaps.

I agree - instead of the Arena, they can enter the Dungeon!

Cheers!
