PHB & DMG II SRD?

Didn't WotC assigned Andy Smith to work on the SRD a few months ago?
Andy has been point of contact for the SRD for a couple years now. He added the epic and divine stuff to the SRD (as well as the Modern stuff to the MSRD).

Personally, I'd love the evironmental books stuff to get added. I've got the books, I would just love to see that become the standard in other games as well.

I think you're barkin' up the wrong trees.

The SRD was never intended to contain all or even most of the D&D supplements, but rather to serve as a reference for the "core rules." Nothing introduced in the PHBII or DMGII or the environmental books or the Complete books really qualifies as an update to the "core rules" that isn't already there (immediate and swift actions got added from the XPH).

The most likely candidate might be the new stat block (converting the old monsters), but since that's really just presentation, I'd doubt anything would happen with it.

Frankly, I'm kind of surprised the Divine rules were added. Happy, but surprised.

I'd expect the next update whenever there's an update to the Epic system, which a lot of people have been clamoring for, but which I can't expect is a high priority.

The SRD, at least 'till 3.75 or 4e is a done document. It's like expecting an update to the PHB. :p

By "reference" you mean a game design template, then yeah. And it's not just the core rules WotC offers as Open Game Content for third-party game publishers.

I bet you if a flood of major publishers want to use material from those copyrighted book (such as the Player's Handbook) tomorrow, WotC would be more than willing to accomodate them and post them in their SRDs. Unfortunately, many of the major publishers have separated from d20 and moved on.

Y'know, that's a point. I know there are still a number of third party publishers doing DnD, but, many of the bigger ones, (AEG and Mongoose come to mind) either have dropped DnD entirely or are barely in the game anymore. If 4e comes out and it's not OGC, will it really matter?

Since the only 3rd party publisher I regularly bought books from cancelled the line (Scarred Lands from Sword & Sorcery Studios) I find i generally stick with WotC stuff for my games. A lot of the books that have come out recently are some of the best they have ever done, imo. Adding stuff to the OGL isn't nearly as important to me as before.

Not to the major-league game publishers (also including Atlas Games, Eden Studio, and Fantasy Flight Games) that formerly sold d20 products.

So, either WotC have to change their mindset and support the minor-league publishers -- as well as the few remaining d20 publishers -- or discontinue releasing new OGC.
