The Scars Run Deep

A Story Hour for my ongoing campaign, set in the rich Scarred Lands campaign setting. It boasts multiple storylines and well-developed characters that are accessible for any fantasy campaign.

In times of great peril, unlikely heroes will be drawn from the corners of the world. Wise are the forces of Evil that realize this and hunt them down without mercy.

A quote from jonrog1 that honors me greatly:

I'm just about to start DM'ing a Scarred Lands campaign. Consider several of your best ideas officially yoinked! Nicely done.

The Riddle of Midnight

Dark, brutal fantasy, Tolkien meets Martin using the award winning indie RPG sensation, The Riddle of Steel with Fantasy Flight Game's award winning Midnight setting. Two gritty tastes that taste great together.

99 years ago the finest army the Dwarves, the Elves and the nations of humanity could muster gathered on the southern shore of the Pelurian Sea to fight the armies of the Shadow. They lost. Welcome to Midnight.

Link's in the sig, c'mon and see what all of the fuss is about.

UNDER A DARKSUN

System- 3.5 of my own conversion
Storyline- Centers around a mysterious young man whom has a Dragon-King for a father. He is the subject of prophesies that have BOTH the good guys and bad walking on glass around him. I give support to all Darksun material and a decent feel for the world in general.

It is dark sometimes but has plenty of comedy to lighten up the mood and many memoriable characters.

STRIKEFORCE: MORITURI

3.5 conversion

Epic level champions that have died before fulfilling their proper destinies in their own realities. They are given a second chance but must first collect artifacts of great power from throughout the realities and times.

The Captain- Leader and familiar to a certain patriot seen in comic books. He was killed in WWII when the Crimson Man discovered and used magic to turn the tide in the war. Unknown to him, the Crimson Lich yet lives and strives to collect the very artifacts he seeks also.

Vander Stormbringer- Darksun psychic Warrior merc. He was suspose to die on the battlefield when the Deadlands were created. Instead he was imprisoned by a demon and later traded to an Orc Barbarian Queen as a "toy" in Acheron. He died when he failed to "please" her.

StormWielder- Jean of Kalamar is a mix of two popular comicbook characters. She is a powerful sorcerer that specializes in weather related magic only. She dislikes the idea of killing.

Christina of the Mace- She is a cleric of the Goddess of the Realities and becons from the demi-plane of Ravenloft. She has a powerful curse placed on her which has not been revealed to her teammates at this point. Whenever she travels to a version of Ravenloft, she meets her "mother" whom then dies in some strange manner. To make matters worse, three of these mothers from alternate realities of Ravenloft have stayed with her in secret. Mother is an intelligent mace. She is strong willed and protective of her daughter. Mom is a ghost that can not be seen or heard but anyone but Christina. She is based mostly on the Ravenloft Feat of "Haunted". Momma is complex. She died, was reincarnated as a cat whom became the familiar to a powerful mage. She acts as sounding board for Christina's thoughts and impressions.

Megamania- My name name is a Pathfinder. A secret agent with gadgets whom was recon for the "glory" getters. He died denying there was such a thing as divinity and destiny. He is impulsive and a playboy rogue. He also has a strange way of negating magic directed at him.

They just battled the Brute Master (Maestro- evil future version of The Hulk) and learned many lessons. They now have started their second mission- Ravenloft.

Expect the unexpected as I play with the campaign worlds both through time and through altered realities. Sliders meet Quantum Leap meets Exiles meets DnD.

Links for both Story Hours are part of my signature. Enjoy.

The Original Against the Shadow(s)

Story Hour Pimped:

Against the Shadows VII - A Faded Glory Story Hour

The ORIGINAL "Against the Shadow(s)" ...not that copycat Midnight stuff :D! (see footnote 1 below)

Story Hour Link:

Against the Shadows VII - A Faded Glory Story Hour

Executive Summary:

Enter a world where a hardy few try to keep the light of civilization burning in the face of a resurgent ancient threat, where Dark Ages ignorance mixes with Byzantine intrigue, where the crust of a once-mighty empire crumbles under the onslaught of many foes. Faded Glory is not for the faint-of-heart, for a silver denarius has true value, death is a constant companion and magic items do not grow on trees!

A Brief Passage:

"The aftermath of the sordid affair was somber and sad. Lew was able to secure assistence from town and by mid-morning, in the midst of a desultory downpour, the living (Rowan and Rosë) and the dead (Marcus Tiro and Garrick) had been recovered from the mine. The children still had not been found and to add insult to injury - by nightfall - all the survivors where shaking from the alternate fever and chills of the "Rat Fever".

Adding to the gloom was news that the Swords of Glynden, with half-a-dozen retainers, had met and defeated a large gnoll band - taking 10 heads. They returned to the town muddy and bloody, but triumphant. Soon they were at Nan's, buying drinks for everyone and boasting of their exploits - bloody gnoll heads lining the bar. Soon a raucuous crowd was gathered and the loss of Marcus Tiro and Garrick was forgotten by all but a few.

Lew, Rowan and Rosë lay in their sick beds, shivering and trying desperately to block the noise of merriment floating in from the tavern. Father Thomas placed his quill on his writing desk, pausing his work on the eulogy for the burial service, and shook his head sadly. Two of the gate guards, pulling their cloaks tight against the wind and the rain, talked quietly about the strength and loyalty of Marcus Tiro. And over in the tavern, a human woman, large and dumpy, stood at the corner of her bar and wept silent tears for the diminutive halfling she had cared for over nine winters."

An excellent continuation of this fine tale. There just seems to be no relief or reprieve for our intrepid band of adventurers. You truly are worthy of the title RBDM Old One !!

A Tale of Christmas Cheer:

http://www.enworld.org/forums/showthread.php?p=1286426#post1286426

(Blame it all on Arkhandus)

A Christmas tale about how the smallest, most insignificant-seeming gifts can change a person's life (and through them, the world). It also looks at how Santa and Adventurers work; sometimes together, and sometimes at cross purposes!

Readers' comments? Not much, so far, except that it's the longest post they've ever seen!

This is another one of the few story hours which is complete... Not to mention, complete in one post (even if it is thirty screens)! ;)
