Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

Nice. We did tour Schonbrunn with the group, so we didn't entirely disregard palaces. I'm jealous on that military history museum though.
Schonbrunn is great, I loved the golden carriages:

Ultimately I found the whole region delightful, where ever one turned, it was quaint, and beautiful.

Yeah, just blowing dust out of our ancient gas heater this morning because we hadn't used it in several weeks, and didn't expect the pilot light to light the dust up by itself. Having my face down where I could see what I was doing was not my best plan there...
Dust is quite volatile, when I was a Firefighter in California, and had to go with the Fire Marshall, she would inspect dust collection, and disposal seriously when inspecting shops, factories, and mills.

That's why I blow it out in the first place; I'm just not the best housekeeper in the world, so if there have been several days for dust to settle on the burners there can be kind of a dramatic tongue of flame come out the front vents on the heater, and I try to minimize that.

I just didn't expect a serious blast of it from the pilot by itself.

I am glad you are ok. Fires are crazy in California, I mean most of what we did was first aid to injured motorists, though wildfires, like apocalyptic, trucks drop us off and we'd head to the fireline with shovels to try to make a firebreak, and aircraft would be bombing the line with retardant. You would see your people just disappear in walls of flame, or ten tons of water.

Well, the brushfire situation is unfortunately going to be California's version of hurricane season as long as people live here, but the tendency to build up against the brushline is helping as much as trying to live on barrier islands helps that; its just a super temptation with California housing prices. I suspect after the last set of fires there'll be some serious soul-searching there, though.

Depends on your definition of "burned". I don't seem to have done any discernible damage to my skin (it was literally a quick tongue of flame) but I do appear to have singed my eyebrows and hairline. As I noted elsewhere, I was pretty glad I wear glasses.

Glad it wasn't anything beyond the eyebrows but still that sounds like a pretty close call

I talked with a friend in Calfire and he said you remember when we had had fire season? Now it's all year.
