Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

so, one of the audiobooks, I have on my audible list is done via Virtual voice is computer-generated narration for audiobooks. And it really isn't the same as an actual voice. It's lifeless. I'm not going to listen to the book anymore, I just couldn't stand it.

I get the why the author chose to go that way.

The need for people who don't like a thing to try to erase it from existence is always mind-boggling to me. You don't get to control what other people like or engage with. If you don't like something, don't engage with it...don't have it at your table. You don't like it therefore no one in the world should be allowed to engage with it? Come on.

Since y’all been telling work horror stories I got one from today. So, partycity a party supply and balloon retail chain went belly up in U.S. I guess this left 100 mill a year in helium balloon sales up for grabs.

So, my company decided to jump in. They don’t want helium tanks for testing in multiple places so they decided my lab was the place to set it up…

My lab is for testing building equipment like HVAC, Refrigeration, lighting… Now, I kid you not, I have to take a training on how to care for helium tanks and how to inflate balloons. All kinds of jokers will be coming to my lab now for Yeap balloons…

Does this fit the "we shouldn't do this just because we can"?

If we ever got to mars and planted the fungus it would charge Mars or is okay because it's a lifeless rock?
There is fierce debate about this. Carl Sagan's "Mars belongs to the Martians" was one of the opening shots, and I don't think it has progressed much since then. Scientifically speaking, folks are concerned because if there was any evidence of ancient life it could be wiped out.

I'm guessing there's a reason why Captain America never got called a master of disguise, also I'm betting the front-entrance sign says "LEGITIMATE BUSINESS ESTABLISHMENT"

I suspect that it’s mostly a matter of cost, with Audible charging much less for Virtual Voice, but I’ll see if I can find out.

I think that Mars is very likely to be lifeless, but I prefer to err on the side of caution. I think it very likely that Mara had life in its first billion years or two, and want us to have a chance to find out. I’m also very morally uncomfortable with declarations about humanity’s manifest destiny to own and use everything not obviously nailed down by current complex life.
