Yeah. It's like a best worst list. Good for the place at the top, but they're still at the bottom.
There are several local places I like the pizza from a lot and eat at... but I might have to take out a second mortgage if I bought it every week for my son's friends when we game instead of getting them from Little Caesars for $6.99 each.

Domino's used to have a take-out option that was almost that cheap and we used to get two or three times a month. They lost their minds during the pandemic, though, and it's now as expensive as actual good pizza, which is certainly a bold strategy.

For major chains, I'm trying to remember if Shakey's pizza was actually good back in the day, but all I can remember after 40 years are the curly straws, player piano, and window to watch them make it. And, to be fair, I think the only pizza I didn't like in my young teens and before is the garbage they tried to give us one day in elementary school for a special lunch.

I think Shakey's was always fine, but not amazing, but were carried by everything else they had going on at their restaurants, whether it was the old silent movies or the modern arcades, as well as the novelty of watching them make the pizzas.

We occasionally get pizza from the Domino's down the street and last I looked a few months ago you could get a take out order for a medium 2 topping pizza for $6.99. That might be a specific deal with that franchise location I guess.

We used to have $5.99 deals for a medium take-out with one topping. They're up to $12.99 each now. In a family with two teenagers, that gets to be real money pretty fast. Cheaper to cook at home or, if we're going to spend that money, go some place more satisfying than Domino's.

We've been leaning on Costco for our cheap to-go pizzas recently, which are enormous and very decent.
