“What leftovers do we have? Thrown ’em in the pot.”

Always the best kind of stew.
My mom used to have Tupperware in the freezer that she poured leftovers into when there wasn't enough for them to be eaten again as a full dish. So it'd accumulate beans, corn, etc., in frozen layers. When the Tupperware was full, she'd drop that ice block into a pot and it was the basis for soup/stew.

I see references to events, "...happened in 2011..." and I think to myself ah yes, that was just the other day.

It wasnt. That is 12 years ago and I'm really not sure what happened to the last decade. I suppose I can blame Covid for part of that, but I dont know, time just keeps speeding up.

The more time you've had, the worse the telescoping effect.

Also, "September" by Earth, Wind, and Fire was released about 20 years ago, right?

Yeah, the COVID lockdowns really messed up my sense of time. The 90s feel like both yesterday and an entire lifetime ago. Even 2020 now feels like a long time ago. It's all kind of a blur. And time is definitely speeding up for me in general. I no longer find myself looking at the clock, wishing it would speed up. I now find myself looking at the clock and wondering how it got to be that time already!

Honestly, my suspicion is that the equivelent of that is the origin for most stews if you go back far enough (just instead of frozen its the leftover cuttings from some other dish).
