Agreed. I generally find, when I look into electrical, that it's a shock the last idiot didn't cause the place to burn down.
Our oven died during the height of the pandemic. It took MONTHS for the replacement to arrive.LOL yes!
I popped off the unit "uh...and that would be the ground wire...doing nothing. And that would be...a melting wire. Awesome."
The guy tasked with the delivery and Installation pulled the dead unit partly out to see what was behind it and found DANGLING LIVE WIRES with EXPOSED TIPS. They weren’t part of the oven’s power supply.
We built our house in 1998- that had been back there for more than 2 decades.
(The installer took care of them for free.)
