Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

My aunt used to work customer service at Sam’s. One day, a customer was not pleased with the answers she was giving him, so he asked to see a manager, and “not a black one.”

So she got on the Sam’s PA system and announced, “customer at the service desk would like to speak with a manager…and not a black one.”

You’ve never heard a Sam’s go that quiet! After the initial gasps, you could hear the footsteps of a manager trotting to the CustServ desk.

Dude was clueless that he’d even asked for something controversial.

The preferred nomenclature is "you people."

I wonder if it's one which was edited down.

I seem to remember (back when I still regularly watched network TV) that sometimes shows would have a longer theme and later in their run it was truncated/edited down. I assumed because an episode ran a little long or the network was trying to squeeze in more commercials.

When I did a quick search on YT it was coming up at :56 as the top result, with a 1:21 version from 1990-1991. But SVU Season One is showing :47 seconds; both season 1 and season 6. Maybe we're getting different search results.
I actually timed them, like with a stopwatch. I could see being a couple seconds off, but even seventeen seconds seems like a lot of user error. Maybe I'm misremembering, but I remember messing around after hours in the studio I was working at, trying to make thirty-second things that sounded vaguely like opening credits music, and it was hard. If I was trying for thirty seconds and they were no shorter than forty-five, that might be at least part of why.

EDIT: It does not seem as though we are arguing, I do not want to be arguing, I'm not disputing what you've found. I have no idea how I ended with an idea in my head so out of step with consensus reality.

All good! Not taken as arguing but I appreciate the clarification. Yeah, it's a funky thing and I was assuming search was just giving us different results, not any actual controversy.
