I need to post this.

I do not live in a major city. It has no great employment opportunities. It's not a tech or industrial hub, and honestly outside of the near by military presence, with their own housing, I've always wondered, what do people even DO here.

That said out of curiosity I looked up the going rate on 1 bedroom apartments that are advertised a few blocks away.

Near $1900 a month.

Who is paying that here?! It's absolutely nonsensical. That's near triple what my mortgage was, and that was not all that long ago.

What the holy hell, is going on.

Basic capitalism. Buy a property, convert it to a rental, then charge absurd prices for it. You either get some sucker to pay it or you can write if off on your taxes as a loss. Happens all the time down here. Basically the same reason WB made Batwoman then refused to release it despite being completely finished. It was worth more as a tax write off than as a movie in theaters.

I'm literally planning to move in the next 4 to 5 months, to get away from the insanity of those prices, in a local economy that frankly doesn't support it. It's bat naughty word crazy, there is NOTHING HERE.

It's either international money, or it's remote/camp work. It makes zero sense, and when it implodes, it's going to be ugly.

I want out so bad lol
