Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

Wow. That’s a one-two punch of posts that explains so much.
I see so little now, I'm lost on what's not being discussed.

Yeah, I was wondering if OG was referring to a thread I've checked out from or one I never saw to begin with!

There is only one person on my ignore list that is a prolific enough poster that I see references to them constantly, but ne'er a single post! They are like a ghost. 👻

Just ignored another person who's not offensive or rude, but who is just consistently dumb and irritating and defiantly so. I don't need another dumbass in my life and it seems like 90% of people are effectively ignoring him already, so onto the pile he goes. Life's too short -- and too rough, at the moment -- to sign up for added headaches.

While I have yet to employ it here, I have found on other platforms that preemptively blocking folks who ping my "This guy is gonna make me lose my...." radar makes many platforms more enjoyable. I've also found that those folks usually don't last long.

I have long been of the philosophy that I would rather deal with well meaning idiots and people with poor social skills than trolls who have learned to play by the rules.

But like you, been also pushed to the brink by people who don't seem to do it on purpose, but are so aggravating with their continued combination of stupidity and loudness that they are simply intolerable.

I reconciled these two conflicting ideas with this realization: At a certain point, lack of self awareness actually becomes a form of trolling. Inability to reflect by yourself is a human problem, yes. But when you have people holding a mirror up to you in every direction so it's impossible to look away and you still don't see it, that's not an accident. That's a choice. That's a troll. That's an ignore.

Also, ignoring someone because doing so improves your QOL is entirely reasonable.

This is where I landed on a few guys, and its too bad because 1 in particular had some great insights.
