The whole "dogs are a man's best friend" thing never resonated with me, until I lost mine.
Having a being who isn't just after you all the time for what you can provide, really seems to matter.

My guy is 15 and doing pretty well except a bum hip and hearing loss. The hearing issue sometimes goes vestibular which gives him vertigo. IT scares me but hes mostly fine. Wont be passing any field sobriety tests if it flares up.

Yeah mine was 15 to 17, the shelter didn't know when we got him, but we had him for a little over 12 years.
Hips, is what eventually got him as he put his back out. They never seem to worry about what's good for them, he still acted like a puppy till the end.
