You wanna argue over it?
Not particularly, but do you? I mean I thought the intended message was clear and positive and great, you're the one who butted in to dump water all over it.

I mean, sure, do you want to go with what the surface level is and ignore any semblance of irony? Or maybe acknowledge that any attempt to compare teenage girl fanfiction to one of the actual greatest works of literature in history is about uplifting and encouraging the former (a group that is, as acknowledged, often highly maligned) no matter how much shade is apparently being thrown at a centuries-long-dead Italian and his literal-and-metaphorical Burn Book?

I'm not going to argue over it. But I would say the following two things.

1. I laughed. It was funny.

2. I don't think that everyone fully understands that The Divine Comedy is not just considered one of the greatest works in world literature, it's also one of the very foundational works in Italian literature. Name of the Rose, Divine Comedy, Decameron, The Betrothed, Zeno's Conscience - there's a handful that are beyond reproach. I can't speak for Italians, but I doubt they'd be quite as amused.

That said, while it was funny, I also don't agree with @Gradine that it was particularly uplifting. No teenager should be compared to the greatest writers of all time; being a teenager is when you should be allowed to write and indulge yourself and make mistakes and find your voice. There are very few people who can look back at what they wrote as teenagers without at least some cringe ... and that's okay! Part of being a teenager is not having that fear as you experiment (hopefully).

In short, it was like everything else on twitter/X- a post to get reactions and laughs, quickly to be passed over, and not thought of again.

I dunno, "this guy did the same things you're being made fun of for and is actually foundational, so go off girl" feels pretty much in line with what you're saying; I certainly can't disagree with anything here

I'm too spicy for my love
Too spicy for my love
Love's going to leave me

I don't have that every day, because I'm not generally in the mood for THAT much heat, but I often have a 5 pack of the x2 or x3 spicy Samyang in my cupboard. Right now I just have one of their regular packs left. It hasn't killed me yet though my brother, who claims to be able to handle hot stuff better than I do, pretty much declared the x3 stuff inedible. His wife laughed at him the whole time he was trying to finish the pack I gave him.

Eh, maybe.

I would avoid invoking comparisons to the greatest writers of all time, and instead just point out that writing is hard, and the more you do, the better you get.*

So keep at it!

Sure but that's also less aspirational, I'd say.

Also, and I feel this is important, less funny
