Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

In our neighborhood one of the big changes in the last few years has been the number of delivery cars and their apparently not being taught that residential neighborhood streets are different than the main streets in terms of speed.

We also have a vocal small subset of folks in the neighborhood FB group where I wonder if their driving habits are as obnoxious as their posts are whenever someone complains about folks speeding and running stop signs.

I haven't noticed big changes on the main roads (compared to a decade ago it would be the number of folks on their cell phones causing havoc - but I think that predates COVID).

It is hard to gauge trends from the ground level. But also sometimes studies show broad tends while missing trends at the local level (I remember shootings were down here when they were up in the area around my neighborhood, which created a much different impression from where we were standing versus if you lived in a different part of the state). I remember my ward councilor explained to me it was because the sentences for a number of local gang members were ending around the same time (but overall crime was down)

Articles and studies are coming out now on the damage social media is causing. It may take a bit longer, since even a few short years ago people claimed social media wasnt harmful (lol) but once a sober analysis is done, we will see that an entire generation has been damaged.
I think that is right. And also only one significant part of it…

I feel bad for my kids honestly.

I know it's hot outside, but some folks here need to log off and go for a walk or something.

Seriously this is a good idea. I just went for a run (right I try to run 3-4 times a week; some weeks it is more like 2-3). I don't do super long runs, but getting outside in the sun, exercising, they all improve mood considerably. I think we have a physical fitness thread that has been going on for some time around here somewhere

I’m a biker I like to get my exercise while sitting down. Even oh the hottest days I don’t feel the heat until I stop.

Thought for the day.

After a while you feel like you know people on different internet forums, groups, etc. But a lot of the time, you don't actually know them in RL. I was thinking about this because I had realized that someone hadn't posted in a very long time, and I was like ... mmm.

A while back, there was an amazing place I used to go to - a local hangout. I got to know the owner really well. He was a young guy. Any way, the place was amazing. For the year that I lived that, it was the place I was at every night.

After I moved from that town, I saw a few years later that it closed down. And then I saw that the person I knew so well for that year, that had kept me sane, had passed after that. Sucks.

Anyhoo, this is just a reminder that, to use the phrase, take care of yourself, and take care of the people around you. There will always be another D&D edition at some point to argue about, but instead just go out and have a slice of za with someone you haven't seen recently.

I mean, unless they like pineapple on it. Screw that guy.

Many places online...

If you're both really that sure, we'd all be happy to witness a friendly wager. I bet some of us would even put it in an online calendar to remind you both.

Edit: Typo fixed, thanks @Snarf Zagyg . Sometimes I even need my reading glasses when using my phone now :-(
